The tune book of Henry Jones, Bala, containing Yr Arweinydd Cerddorol ... gan Richard Mills, Llanidloes, 1842, and manuscript hymn-tunes and anthems by Henry Jones and his fellow student at Bala, Edward Stephen Jones, better known as Edward Stephen ('Tanymarian'), 1844-1847.
'Canto y Gynulleidfa, sef Anthemau a Thonau cyfaddas i'w canu yn yr addoliad cyhoeddus, gan David Bynner ('Dewi Cadfan'), Llangadfan, Chwefror 8fed 1859'. The anthems are 'Praise the Lord, O my soul', 'The Congregational Anthem', and 'Moliant Seion'. Several of the hymn-tunes have titles of Montgomeryshire association, e.g. Beulah, St Cadfan, Cannoffice and Myfod.

Many of the pieces are unattributed. Written on the inside covers and elsewhere are a metrical psalm by W[illiam] Williams, Llandegai, and unsigned hymns.

Psalms, hymn-tunes, and carols composed by David Harris (Carno), David Jones (Caio), and others. Included are two Breton airs.
A volume containing hymn-tunes and folk-tunes together with an index to the tunes, written in a mid-nineteenth century hand (ff. 73-209), bound together with a copy of William Owen, Prysgol, Y Perl Cerddorol... (Caernarfon, 1852) (ff. 7-72). A note in pencil on f. 1, probably in the hand of Philip Thomas, suggesting 'Shenkin Dounie, Harpist, Neath' to have been the scribe is probably an error for John Dounie [Downey], harpist, the Mera, Neath (see E. E. Williams, 'The queen of the Mera', Neath Antiquarian Society Transactions (1979), 6-7). Also included is a printed advertisement for John Ambrose Lloyd, Casgliad o Donau... (1843) (f. 210).
The file comprises a copy of Caniadau y Cyssegr, neu, Gasgliad o Donau Hen a Diweddar...wedi eu cynghaneddu i bedwar o leisiau, gan John Roberts, Henllan (1839). The copy has been annotated and English translations of the hymns supplied by a later hand.
