Inset at the end of the volume are transcripts of Montgomeryshire pedigrees, etc. Much of the material in the volume has been transcribed from other volumes now in the Cwrtmawr Collection (e.g. MSS 200, 222, 242 and 243) and there are references to such sources as 'un o lyfrau Maesglas Mallwyd' (transcribed in 1857) (p. 269), a manuscript in the hand of Robert Arthur (p. 342), 'Llyfr ym meddiant Lowri Jones' (p. 380), etc. A note pasted on the inside of the upper cover states 'This Vol. was copied by Owen Jones (brother of Myrddin Fardd) from a MS Vol. ... in the handwriting of Lewis Morris [Cwrtmawr MS 200] now at Bryntanad, Llanerfyl Montgomerys[hire] (Richards) E. Breese'. Owen Jones was for a short time a private tutor at BrynTanad (see The Dictionary of Welsh Biography). The spine is lettered 'Mannoethwy MSS'.

Prys Morris, including references to a number of 'cywyddau', etc. by Edmwnd Prys in BM Add MSS and a few extracts from [Joseph] Besse, A collection of the sufferings of the people called Quakers (London, 1753); part of a letter from the Reverend Evan Evans [? Twenty-eight holograph letters and a fragment of another, 1728-1764, of the Morrises of Anglesey and their circle, the correspondents being Rhist. Morys, London (4), Llywelin Deheubarth (1), Edward Hughes, Aberystwyth and Gallt Vadog (5), Lewis Morris, London and Galltvadog (10), [Goronwy Owen] 'Gronwy Ddu', Llundain (1), Margt. Owen, Pentrerianell (5), Wm Morris, Caer Gybi Sant (1), an unnamed correspondent, Llanvayr Clwydogau (1), and Richd. Morris, Rhydyraderyn (1). All these letters have been published except possibly that of Rich[ar]d Morris, Rhydyraderyn (1764), and a chronological list with references has now been inserted in the volume. Most of the letters have been published in Additional Letters of the Morrises of Anglesey (1735-1786), ed. Hugh Owen (Y Cymmrodor, Vol. XLIX, Part II (1949). They are followed by copies of letters written to [Hugh Hughes] Hugh ap Hugh, Llwydiarth Esgob by John Thomas [d. 1769], Bangor and Bewmaris [sic], 1764-7 (3), and Rhist. Morys, Llundain, 1760-70 (4, one possibly holograph). At the end of the volume are items of verse by various authors, including S. W., Owen Gruffydd, John Roderick, Sion Onest, 1736, Hugh Morris, Ellis Cadwaladr and Evan Williams 'Telynior yn Llundain' (a translation of 'Lovely Peggy').

At the reverse end is the beginning of a Welsh translation of A Practical Discourse concerning a future judgment by William Sherlock, D.D. [pp. 1-11] ('Traethod bucheddol am y farn a fydd (sy' i ddyfod) o waith Wm. Sherloc y D.D.'), followed by englynion by Ed. Morys and Siôn Rhissiart, etc. and a note in pencil by St. G. A[rmstrong] W[illiams], July 8 1886: 'Cannot find a name for this note book, so as to identify it on the Catalogue'. In the list of Cwrtmawr manuscripts it is described as 'Llyfr W. Rowlands, 1700'. J. H. Davies has added in pencil: 'W Rowland see R. Ellis article on Lhwyd' [i.e. Trans. Cymm., 1906-7, pp. 26-8].

A small volume, originally with clasps, containing 'cywyddau', 'englynion', etc. by Evan ab Evan (lines from Anacreon), Taliesin, Dafydd ap Edmwnt, John Philipp, Richard Philip, Dafydd ap Gwilim, Tudur Aled, John Dafies (Dafis), Owen Gwynedd, W(illiam) Llyn, Sion Brwnog (Brwynog), Dafydd Trefor, Dafydd Llwyd ap Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, Iolo Goch, Thomas Prys o Blas Iolyn Esgwier, Hugh Llwyd Cynfal, Doctor (Sion) Cent, Tudur Penllyn, Edward M[orus], Sr. Morgan, Rowland Vaughan, Hugh ap Ev. ap Ro[ ] and Wmphre David. The contents appear to have been transcribed after 1744 from a manuscript annotated by Lewis Morris, and a note on p. 100 suggests a connection with BM Additional MS 14866, although none of the poems are to be found in that volume. There are a number of quotations in the margins and elsewhere from Pope, Homer, Dryden, etc. At the beginning, in a later hand, are an 'englyn' by Siencyn Thomas Morgan and an 'englyn' which is described as being on the tombstone of the Reverend Alban Thomas of Blaen y Porth, Cardiganshire. A note in pencil on the limp boards which were originally inside the vellum cover reads 'Gwaith hen Feirdd MS from Rev. Armstrong Williams'.

A volume of poetry, chiefly in strict metre, written largely in the autograph of Owen Gruffydd (?1638-1730) between 1677 and 1692. Most of the poems are by Owen Gruffydd, but the following poets are also represented: Robin Ddu, Dafydd Gorllech, John Roger, Sion Phylip, Sypyn Cyfeiliog, Dafydd ap Gwilym, William Phylip, Gyttyn Owain ('medd rhai' 'Meredydd ap Rhys' in another hand), Ifan Tew Prydydd, Huw ab Iva[n], Bedo Brwynllysg, Edmwnt Prys, Edward Morys, Matthew Owen and Hugh Morys. There is a list of contents at the beginning and the poems have been correspondingly numbered. There are 'penillion' by William Elias on p. 309b. John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') has supplied a lacuna in the manuscript from Peniarth MS 124. Almost all the 'cywyddau' in this manuscript, but not the 'englynion' and the poems in free metre, are to be found also in Peniarth MS 124, which is later in date than the present manuscript and written in a different hand. The pages have been numbered by Dr J. Gwenogvryn Evans and his report on the manuscript is in J. Gwenogvryn Evans MS 70a (under 'M[yrddin] F[ardd] 5'). If the information given on pp. 1 and 50 is correct, Owen Gruffydd was born in 1638. A note at the end (p. 238) of his elegy to Sir Roger Mostyn (d. 1690) states that the poet received fifty shillings for the 'cywydd'. There is a folio missing after p. 36 and another is wanting before p. 53.

A volume written almost entirely in the autograph of John Roberts ('Siôn Lleyn'; 1749-1817) containing poetry largely of his own composition, with some items by other poets. The volume is in two sections and there is a list of contents at the beginning covering pp. 1-145 in the first section. The wording on the title-page is 'Trysorfa yr Awen sef Casgliad o Ganiadau, Sion Lleyn, 1787,' but some of the items are of later date. The other poets represented are David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu o'r Eryri'), Robert Prich[ar]d (Robert Prichiard Sion,'Robin'r Aber'), T[h]om[a]s Edward[s] Nant, D. The volume contains some notes in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), press cuttings and also a copy (printed) of Marwnad, neu Goffadwriaeth y Brawd Robert Roberts, o Sir Gaernarfon : yr hwn a ymadawodd â'r Byd hwn Tachwedd 28, 1802. Meirion, Huw Morys, Glyn Ceiriog and R. Davis, Nantglyn 'y teiliwr', etc., 'Traddiad [sic] o hanes Gwr Caer-Gai Llanuwchlyn', translations into Welsh of extracts from Rousseau, Le Sage, Pascal, Descartes, etc., observations entitled 'Taith "o'm hamgylch fy hunan", vocabularies and grammatical notes.

An early eighteenth century miscellany, with later additions, containing recipes in English; a herbal in Welsh, with 'englynion' in praise of herbs by William Cynwall, Huw llun, Rhys Iorwerth fynglwyd, Gryffith ap Efan, Dr. Richard Dafis ('Esgob Dewi'), Sion ap Sion, Sion Tudur, Howel borthor ('o'r Trallwng yn mhowys'), Thomas Efans (1619), etc; 'Brenin yn yr hên amser a ddyfeisiodd i ddeuddeg oi wyr ddoydyd 12 gair gwir dan eu perigl'; 'gofyn a wnaeth y saith wyr doethion iw gilidd. Pa ryw ddaioni ore ar ddyn ...'; 'y pethau a berthyn ar wr'; Welsh proverbs; 'Dysg i adnabod y lleuad newydd', 'I gael y Pasc tros byth', 'I gael difieu cablyd', 'I gael y Pasc byth', 'I gael newid y lleuad', and 'I wybod oed y lleuad', 'Tair Sir ar ddeg o gymru au Trefydd au dinasoedd au Cymydau, au heglwysydd' ('Diwedd Ebrill 10. 1722'); 'Trioedd mab y Crinwas'; 'Triodd [sic] yr usuriwr'; the story of 'Adar Llwch Gwin'; 'y Pedair Camp ar hugain', etc. The leather cover is blind tooled 'Ex Dono Edvardi Humphrey Anno Domni 1661', but there is no evidence to show whether or not this inscription refers to the present volume.

A volume containing 'cywyddau' and some 'englynion' by John Philips, Edmwnd Prys, Lewis Glyn Cothi, M'edydd ap R's, [? Huw Arwystli], ?Thomas Derllysc, Tudur Aled, John Tudyr, John Mowddwy, and Ifan Tew, and an imperfect 'cywydd'. Pp. 41-5, as stated by J. H. Davies in a note on the inside lower cover (and not pp. 35-9 as suggested by J. Gwenogvryn Evans) are in the hand of Sion Tudur. J. H. Davies has also stated, and J. Gwenogvryn Evans also suggested, that pp. 1-17 are in the hand of Edmwnd Prys, but this section is in fact in two hands (pp. 1-9, 9-17), neither of which resembles that of Prys. There are some additions in the hand of David Ellis, Cricieth (1736-95) and some marginal and other additions by Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836), Llanrug.

The remainder is in several hands of the late seventeenth or early eighteenth century. There are copious annotations by William Maurice and some additions and annotations by Cadwaladr Dafydd, Llanymowddwy (1747) and L[ewis] Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn', 1701-65).

The third part of the manuscript contains a transcript of the text of 'Y Gododdin' ('Y Gwawdodyn') in old and modern orthography; an 'awdl' in English ('O michti Ladi, our leding...') by Ieuan ap Rhydderch ap Ieuan Llwyd ('o Ogerddan') or Ieuan ap Hywel Swrdwal, transcribed in 1785 from a manuscript of John Jones (Sion ap Wiliam Sion), Gell[i] Lyfrdy [sic]; and 'cywyddau' and an 'awdl' by Sion Phylip, Huw Arwystl, Sion Keri, Sion Tudur, Ieuan Tew Ieuaf, Sion Tudur ('o Wicwar'), Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Sion Mowddwy, Lewis Glyn Cothi, Sion Dafydd Siancyn, Risart Phylip, and Huw Llwyd Cynfel. At the end of the manuscript is a progressive list of poems ('Cynnwysiad') contained in the second section, an alphabetical index ('Cynnwysiad llyth'rennol') of first lines, an index of poets ('Enwau'r Beirdd') and a progressive list of poems ('Cynnwysiad') contained in the third section, all in the hand of David Ellis, together with an incomplete list of poets contained in the second section in the hand of Owen Williams, Waunfawr ('Owain Gwyrfai'). There are numerous additions, variants, and annotations in the hands of Owen Williams, P[eter Bailey] W[illiams], [Griffith Williams] ('Gutyn Peris'), and [Professor Thomas Gwynn Jones]. The manuscript is bound uniformly with Cwrtmawr MS 10 and 12 and the spine is lettered 'Dafydd Ellis MS'.

Philip, 'Y Peniaith galluog ...' by Lewis Penllyn, and other free-metre poems; 'cywyddau' by Doctor Sion Kent, Sion Mowddwy, Sion Tvdvr, Mr Edmwnd Prvs, Sr. Davidd Trefor, Robert Clidro, Robin Ddv, Dafydd Lloyd, Iolo Goch, and Mredydd ab Rhys, and anonymous poems.
