He fears Mr Appleyard does not understand the situation. Heavy snow delayed mail. WEP's demand for examination of account books and his unjust treatment of the writer. Protests he has always been devoted to WEP's interests, and saved him from heavy losses, and regrets that he has allowed people to defame his character. He is prepared to accept arbitration rather than legal proceedings, but will not hesitate to resort to a court of justice should they not reach a fair agreement. In No. 430 he asks Mrs Powell, WEP's mother, for receipts for payments received.

He is managing to reduce rent arrears, one tenant has had to leave his farm, and he has fixed the rent days to correspond with the fairs. Lord Kensington has had Woodhouse valued. The estate already in better shape and he would like to establish a sinking fund to avoid the constant anxiety. He thinks it would pay to get the mines working again, dispute with Hafod about mine above Cwmystwyth. Exchange of farms by tenants, and of houses in Aberystwyth.

Family news. He has sent evidence to Mr Hughes that all the furniture, etc., at Nanteos was for Mrs P. and he also has a letter from Jessop, dated 1926, Feb. 2, saying that she should have the income of the whole estate as there was no longer an heir. (See 4798).
