Just to let you know that I reached Hoogly safely. I have received a letter from the Nawab Sahib informing that he has handed over Taj Khan and other guards of the Company to the Vakil of the Company and taken a receipt from him. He has included a copy of this receipt with his letter. I am enclosing this receipt for your information. - Enclosure 1: . Copy of a receipt with the seal of Muhammad Anis, Vakil of the [East India] Company. - I, Muhammad Anis, Vakil of the East India Company hereby declare that I have received the custody of Taj Khan, Sayyid Mustafa, Balhajram and Satna who were employed by the company at Calcutta and had secretly run away to Murshidabad to seek employment there. They were arrested by the Nawab and have now been handed over to me to be returned to Calcutta. Signed. 15 Rabi al-Sani, San 5. - Enclosure 2: . Parvana of the Nawab, dated 21 Rabi al-Sani. - I have not received any news about the affairs of the company and the welfare of Clive and his associates. Please do ask them to write to us. Meanwhile, we have arrested Taj Khan, Mustafa Khan, etc., four guards of the company. They have been handed over to the Vakil of the Company and a receipt taken. A copy of the receipt is enclosed for you to send to the company. - Enclosure 3: From Nand Kumar to Clive. - I reached Hoogly safely in the morning of Saturday and have been busy with my affairs. I will come and see you at the agreed time.
