Owen Williams (Owain Gwyrfai): The letters of Goronwy Owain

A transcript by Owen Williams, Waunfawr (Owain Gwyrfai) (1790-1874) of letters, in Welsh and English, written by Goronwy Owen (1723-1769) to Richard Morris of the Navy Officer, with notes by the transcriber. This manuscript was apparently used by the printer of the Llanrwst edition (1860) of Goronwy Owen's works.

A volume, 19 cent., probably compiled by John Rowlands, Librarian to Sir Thomas Phillipps, containing copies of inscriptions in the parish churches of Llanelly, Pembrey, Kidwelly, St Ishmael's, Llansaint and Llanstephan, with notes as to Llanybri, Llandeilo Abercowin, Llanfihangel Abercowin, &c.

Two volumes, 17 cent., bound together, the former consisting of notes of court cases and appearing to have been written 1671-1677, the second a lawyer's commonplace book containing precedents of deeds and pleadings, notes relating to court judges, charges of judges, etc.

William Probert: Hebrew-English grammar

A grammar, in two sections, the first being "a Hebrew and English Grammar without points, to which is added a short outline of the Chaldee Dialect adapted to the Hebrew Bible by William Probert", completed at Alnwick, August, 1818, and the second being "a short Welsh Grammar", also by William Probert.

A volume containing sermons (pp. 7-254) and accounts (pp. 1-6, 304-5, 370, 373, 376-7, 383-7). A copy of 'The Whole Book of Psalmes ... 1628' has been bound into the volume after p. 388. With NLW MS 71A.

A volume of sermons, in Welsh, preached at Llanddowror and Llandeilo between 11 November 1753 and 22 October 1758. The sermons were probably preached by the Rev. Griffith Jones; parts of the volume are in the hand of the Rev. Thomas Evans, later curate of Llanddowror.

Two draft letters, probably intended for Sir J. Rhys, have been inserted into the volume.

Antiquitates Parochiales Insulae Monae

A volume containing a copy of a work on the parishes of Anglesey by the Rev. Henry Rowlands, author of Mona Antiqua, and other works. This copy was transcribed by 'G. M.' [William Morgan] in 1726 and was printed, with a translation, in the Arch. Camb., 1st Series, vols I-IV. At the end of the volume (p. 143) there is a tract entitled Bellum Mariscum, which was not published in the Arch. Camb.

The Life of Gruffydd ap Cynan

A volume containing a translation of Buchedd Gruffydd ap Cynan. A note on the first page states that the Life of Gruffydd ap Cynan was "written originally in Welsh and copied A. D. 1683 from a MS. at Plas Ward, and now first translated into English". Also included in the volume are various loose papers in the hand of Edward Jones, Bardd y Brenin.

Pedigree of Sir William Jones of Castellmarch

A volume containing a copy, 1862, of the pedigree of Sir William Jones of Castellmarch, Caernarvonshire, drawn up by Sion Cain of Oswestry in 1630. This 19th century copy was made from an illuminated pedigree with the arms in the library at Middle Hill.

Francis Townsend: Pedigrees of bishops (Vol. I)

The first of four volumes, it contains pedigrees and notes, probably drawn up by Francis Townsend, Windsor Herald, relating to the bishops of Canterbury, St Asaph, Bath, Bangor, Bristol, York and Lichfield. The material is of very little value, most of the information being obtained from ordinary printed sources.
