Part of Garn Estate Records
The file comprises deeds relating to Maesgwyn and other lands in the township of Tiryrabad. It was described in the marriage settlement of Roderick Lewis of Maesgwyn, son of Jane Lloyd, and Jane Hughes, daughter of Ellis Hughes of Penbryn, Merionethshire, 1666. The property, with several others, had been mortgaged in 1692; in 1729 John Lewis, brother and heir of Robert Lewis (the original mortgagor) and others assigned Maesgwyn, y Rofft, Pen Carreg, Yr Odyn, Ffrith and other lands (named) to Thomas Clendon of St Clements, in discharge of mortgage debts owed to Margaret, daughter of Robert Pugh (the original mortgagee) and to Thomas Clendon on property in London.
