Release by 1, at request of 2, of a £400 mortgage charged on part of estates in co. Carmarthen and Cardigan to which 3 is entitled under the will of Margaretta Bowen Nicholl, 1838 (died 1858). Recites that M.B.N. mortgaged her estates on 8 Apr. 1843 for £650; that she died and devised the greater part of her realty to Eliza Jones and the residue to 3, subject to a £400 mortgage, the amount remaining unpaid in the £650 mortgage; that by various deeds (further recited), the £400 mortgage was eventually assigned to 1; and 2 and 3 as part of an arrangement between them have asked 1 to concur in releasing the estates to which 3 is entitled, from the mortgage debt. Attached: Certificated of Acknowledgement of Deeds by Eliza Jones 11 Apr. 1872. Attested Copy.

Declaration (in the suit Morgan v Ellis) of David Davies of the Carpenters Arms, Llangybi, concerning Penlan estate. Recites that Penlan belonged to Rees Morgan who for the last 18 or 19 years of his life was a prisoner for debt in Cardigan gaol, where he died about 32 years ago. He was succeeded at Penlan, by David Lloyd Harries, and attorney and solicitor of Llandovery, who after a few years sold it to Rees Morgan, the younger, son of Rees Morgan, aforesaid, who held it until the termination of an action brought against him by Thomas Morgan (since decd.), a grandson of Thomas Morgan, the elder (decd.) who was second son of Rees Morgan, who died at Cardigan gaol.
