A collection of records of the First District or Division of the Montgomeryshire Turnpike Roads Trust (Welshpool, Llanidloes, Newtown, Llandinam, Machynlleth and Kerry area), 1756-1893, (the Trust itself was wound up in 1885), including accounts and vouchers in respect of road repair and construction, accounts of tolls collected at the various turnpike gates (at Llanfair, Park, Sarnybryncaled, Dolhafren, St Giles, Kerry, Llanidloes, Talerddig, Scavelleth, Llifior, Pool, Newtown, Abermule, Machynlleth, Berth Llwyd, Garthmill, etc.), leases of the tolls of the said gates, mortgages of tolls, biddings for tolls, and correspondence.
