Letters to and from J. Charles Jones relating to the Gwynedd Lodge. He was Assistant Secretary to the Lodge during this period.
The file comprises letters to and from J. L. C. Cecil-Williams (Honourary Secretary of the Society) relating to the removal of Owen Jones' (Owain Myfyr) tombstone from London to Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, and the organisation of a commemorative service on 11 August 1951.
Dr Elvet Lewis testimonial fund
The file comprises letters to and from J. L. C. Cecil-Williams (Honourary Secretary of the Society) and various papers relating to the arrangement of a national testimonial fund to Dr H. Elvet Lewis, which was presented to him in Cardiff, 23 January 1948.
Owen's Pembrokeshire, unpublished volumes IV and V
Three volumes of The Description of Pembrokeshire by George Owen were published between 1892 and 1906 as part of the Cymmrodorion Record Series 1. The letters contained in this folder, to and from J. L. C. Cecil Williams, discuss the preparations for a fourth and fifth volume. The fourth volume was published in 1936 with Egerton Phillimore as editor. Egerton Phillimore died in 1937 before the fifth and final volume could be completed.
Emigration from North Wales to the USA
The file comprises letters to and from J. L. C. Cecil Williams relating to the task of preparing Mrs Russell-Wood's MA dissertation for publication in Y Cymmrodor. Professor J. Glyn Davies was given the task of editing the dissertation, and there are a number of letters between him and Cecil Williams.
The volume contains press cuttings relating to the Cymmrodorion, as well as metters of general Welsh interest.
Miscellaneous articles and addresses
The folder comprises an article written in the hand of the Rev. J. W. Hayes, entitled 'Irish Manuscript and other evidence concerning the use of rough and smooth stone weapons within historic times', an article entitled 'Wales and the Cymmrodorion Society' (author unknown), and three other incomplete artices/lectures.
The folder comprises manuscript copies of addresses, mostly given before the Cymmrodorion Section of the National Eisteddfod by Dr Isambard Owen, D. Brynmor Jones, Prof. H. J. Fleure, R. Arthur Roberts, etc. There are also some Cymmrodorion Section programmes, 1882-1907.
