A file of correspondence, 1936-49, relating to the Dictionary of the Welsh Language now in course of publication under the auspices of the Board of Celtic Studies. During this period 'Hesgin' was a reader for the Dictionary.

A notebook containing 'tribanau' by various authors in the autograph of 'Hesgin', and another containing quotations from, and references to the works of, Daniel Owen (? for the essay, 'Daniel Owen: Heretic') and more 'tribanau'.

A Volume of news cuttings which is in part a continuation of 4. The miscellaneous cuttings are dated Jan. 1910-Dec. 1932, and the 'Hesgin' cuttings from ? Nov. 1933-Feb. 1941.

An exercise-book containing press-cuttings concerning the Civil Service Bowling Association, etc., 1932-39.

Autobiographical essays and reminiscences by 'Hesgin', in English and Welsh. The Welsh volume is entitled 'Crynodeb o'm Gyrfa', while the English volume bears the heading 'Articles, Reminiscences, etc. (Not Published)'.

Copies of letters written by 'Hesgin' to various newspapers and individuals, 1940-56. Some of the letters to the press were acknowledged and/or published, others not.

Another essay by 'Hesgin', 'Yr Achosion am y Dirywiad Crefyddol yn ein Gwlad', for which he was awarded the prize at Eisteddfod Calan Dwyran, Môn, 30 Dec. 1950 and 1 Jan. 1951, was published in Yr Ymofynnydd, Nov. 1951-Feb. 1952; the manuscript of this is also in the group.

Papers of Thomas Owen ('Hesgin'), 1904-1956, comprising letters received, and copies of letters written by him to various newspapers and individuals, 1940-1956; literary compositions, including essays and short stories, submitted by him for competition at various eisteddfodau, including the National Eisteddfod of Wales; two volumes of autobiographical essays and reminiscences; nine volumes of press cuttings, mainly of articles by 'Hesgin' which appeared in newspapers and other publications, 1904-1956; scrapbooks and notebooks; and a minute book and other material relating to the Swansea district committee formed in connection with the National Petition for the Legal Recognition of the Welsh Language in Wales, 1938-1939.

It also contains cuttings of the short story 'Tourmalet' by 'Mab y Mynydd' (D. P. Williams), which was published in the Western Mail after being rejected at the Cardiff National Eisteddfod because the author had not produced "proof of the genuineness and originality of his production". The last pages are a continuation of 3 above.

Miscellaneous letters, the details of which are given in the ensuing list. Most of the letters written during the period Dec. 1938-March 1939 relate to the campaign in Swansea in connection with the National Petition for the legal recognition of the Welsh Language in Wales. 'Hesgin' was the Secretary of the Swansea District Committee and besides some additional loose papers there is a minute-book of Committee Meetings, 1938-39. There are also some papers relating to Adran Gorllewin Morgannwg of Undeb Cymru Fydd, 1943-44, when 'Hesgin' was Honorary Secretary.
