Opus 1: Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso for String Quintet

Ink score with pencil annotations, dated April-May 1952, titled Opus 1: 'Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso for String Quintet', based on the Welsh folk melodies ‘Hun Gwenllian’ and ‘Hela’r 'Sgyfarnog’. The score includes parts for violins 1 and 2, viola, and cellos 1 and 2. A title note added indicates that this piece was first performed at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, March 1953, and was awarded a prize at the National Eisteddfod, Aberystwyth, 1952. Dedicated to Grace Williams.

Opus 15: Clarinet Quintet (draft)

Draft score in ink and pencil, dated 3rd January-19th May 1962, titled Opus 15: 'Clarinet Quintet' and for performance at the Cheltenham Festival, 1962. The score also includes a typed programme note for the Cheltenham Festival brochure, 1962, signed by David Harries.

Opus 26: Six Impromptus for Piano

Facsimile copy of ink score, dated January 1968, and titled Opus 26: 'Six Impromptus for Piano'. The work was commissioned by Geoffrey Buckley, and was first performed at the Purcell Room, London, on 30 January 1968. The facsimile includes a note in pencil: ''For return to Mr Geoffrey Buckley at recording'. Also included in the file is a published copy of David Harries' 'Four Impromptus' (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1969).

Opus 32: Sinfonietta

Two copies of a score, with one being a facsimile of ink copy and one in ink with pencil annotations, [1969], titled Opus 32: 'Sinfonietta'. The score includes parts for violins 1 and 2, viola, violoncello, cello, horns 1 and 2, trumpets 1 and 2, trombones 1 and 2, bass, timpani, and percussion.

Opus 1: Revised as Nocturne and Scherzo for Orchestra

Ink score with pencil annotations, of a 1959 revision of the work titled Opus 1: ‘Nocturne and Scherzo for Orchestra’, including parts for clarinet, violins 1 and 2, viola, violoncello, oboe, bassoon, timpani, flute, trumpet, and horns 1 and 2. The piece was first written in 1952 as 'Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso' for string quintet, based on the Welsh folk-melodies 'Hun Gwenllian' and 'Hela'r 'Sgyfarnog'. The original piece was awarded a prize in the composition section at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Aberystwyth (1952), and was first performed at University College Wales, Aberystwyth, in 1953.

The work was originally commissioned by the Fishguard Music Festival in association with the Welsh Arts Council, [1976]. Dedicated to Alwena Harries.

Two facsimile copies of ink score, dated April-May 1985, and titled Opus 53: 'Myfyrdod: Contemplation for Orchestra’. Includes parts for tenor trombones 1 and 2, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion, violins 1 and 2, viola, violoncello, cello, flutes 1, 2, and 3, oboes 1 and 2, clarinets 1 and 2, bass clarinet, bassoons 1, 2, and 3, trumpets 1 and 2, and harps 1 and 2. Dedicated to Peter Fletcher.
