Publicity and media

Material relating to publicity and the media as it relates to Welsh Women's Aid, including items relating to Welsh Women's Aid's Publicity Strategy Team; press releases issued by Welsh Women's Aid; material relating to media broadcasts and social events which highlight Welsh Women's Aid's work and/or women's issues; publicity resource pack for the use of Welsh Women's Aid groups; and guidelines on how to make the most of media opportunities.

Women's Archive of Wales / 'Mapping Wales' project

Material relating to the collaboration between Welsh Women's Aid and the Women's Archive of Wales (Archif Menywod Cymru) and between Welsh Women's Aid and the 'Mapping Wales' project, the latter being a Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum collaborative research project based at the University of Wales Aberystwyth. The Women's Archive of Wales were to obtain a copious amount of records from Welsh Women's Aid, records which now comprise this present archive.

Welsh Women's Aid Trust

Material relating to the establishment of the Welsh Women's Aid Trust and of Welsh Women's Aid as a registered charity, including legal declarations, with accompanying solicitors' correspondence; list of Welsh Women's Aid trustees; agenda of the inaugural meeting of the Welsh Women's Aid Trust; and printed booklet titled 'Responsibilities of Charity Trustees'. The undated item - a photocopied page from a printed source detailing the nature of 'trusts' - is annotated with the following: 'WWA Trust has now dissolved'; however, there is no apparent indication of how and when this occurred.

Law and legislation/Police

Material relating to law and legislation and the police as they apply to the work of Welsh Women's Aid. Includes material relating to the Family Law Bill of 1995 and subsequent Family Law Act of 1996, and also to the ill-fated Family Homes and Domestic Violence Bill of 1995. Welsh Women's Aid's response to the Family Law Bill 1995 forms part of the Police and Legal Group mailings (kept in separate envelope). Press cuttings, of which there are a significant number, kept in separate folder; printed booklets and leaflets kept in separate envelope.

Funding and fundraising

Material relating to Welsh Women's Aid's ongoing strategies to obtain funding for the continued running and upkeep of refuges, employment of staff, etc, mostly comprising grant applications made to national bodies such as the National Lottery, Children in Need and the Burson Marsteller Initiative as well as to more local organisations and councils; together with reports, records of meetings, etc of the Women's Aid Funding Strategy Working Party.

Newsletters

Material relating to Women's Aid newsletters, primarily the Welsh Women's Aid newsletter Lloches and what appears to have been its predecessor, Barn Merched/Women's View. Along with copies of the newsletters, the material includes mastheads and graphics, a Letraset pack and articles submitted for publication.
