Account books,

Account books containing details of receipts and expenditure, mainly payments of benefits. LA4/1 and LA4/2 are either draft, or at least informal, accounts in that they have not been examined annually by the District Examiners as the rules of the Order required.

Journals containing financial entries for many types of accounts including members' subscription accounts, capital accounts, indemnity and expenses accounts, revenue and investment accounts. Entries in the early journals are grouped according to district board, and some journals include account balance sheets in the back of the volume.

Ledgers containing financial entries and notes for various accounts including members' subscription and expenses accounts, capital fund accounts, indemnities accounts, investment accounts and revenue accounts. Expenses itemized include such things as travel, meetings, legal fees, engineers' fees, office maintenance and expenses, electricity in mines, back to coal movement, strikes and other disputes, committee and conciliation board expenses. Many ledgers contain an index of colliery companies in the front of the volume. Ledger contents are arranged by colliery and often include balance sheets for particular types of accounts in the back of the volume.

Drafts and final accounts of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, sixth Baronet Wynnstay, and the trustees under the will of his father the late Sir Watkin Williams Wynn (d. 1840), 1844-1885; Longueville and Co.’s accounts with Sir Watkin Williams Wynn and the trustees, 1853-1869; and the succession account of the sixth Baronet, 1885-1886. Most of the accounts list properties which were sold by the Wynnstay estate, their locations and the names of the purchasers, or properties valued for the succession acccount.

Mainly accounts and receipts, 1646, 1843-1915, for the payment of chief rents in the manor of Emlyn Iscych, taxes on properties in Cilgerran and Clydau, and for expenses incurred in the administration of the manorial court. They typically include serving summons and warrants to the constables, summoning the jurors and tenants to the court leet, subsistence for jurors and horses at the Boncath Inn, and costs of horse hire to Boncath and Newcastle Emlyn. The files for 1881-1883 also contain rentals.
