T[homas] Price, Cwmdû, to Mr W. Rees. After the very decided manner in which Mr Taliesin Williams has expressed his disapprobation of the writer's remarks on the proof sheets of the MSS Society's Second Volume which he is editing, it would be worse than useless for him to continue any longer to look over the proofs at all. He has always had too much respect for Mr Taliesin Williams to give him any intentional annoyance, and also, he hopes, too much respect for himself to act in so unworthy a manner towards anyone.

Rob' and R. Jones).

Some one hundred and seventy-three autograph letters, 1845-1874, to Stephens from a large number of individuals prominent in the life of Wales, including Max Muller, Richard Parry (Gwalchmai), Sir Thomas Phillipps of Middle Hill, Thomas Price (Carnhuanawc), William Rees, Llandovery, Samuel Roberts (S. Four hundred letters, 1834-1841, 1847-1848, and undated, relating to Cymdeithas Cymreigyddion y Fenni (Abergavenny Cymreigyddion Society). About half their number are addressed to Thomas Bevan ('Caradawc'), the Society's first secretary. Of the remainder some are addressed to John Evans ('Ieuan ab Gruffydd'), who succeeded Thomas Bevan as secretary, and to the Reverend John Evans, Llanover, who was chairman of the Society for more than one term and secretary from (?) April 1846 onwards, while a few are addressed to other individuals, among them Sir Benjamin Hall, Lady [Augusta] Hall, J. Hiley Morgan, Abergavenny, and the Reverend Thomas Price ('Carnhuanawc'). The matters discussed include subjects for competition, prizes, subscriptions, arrangements for the Anniversaries, etc. The letters have been rearranged slightly and renumbered and a list of the old and new series numbers has been supplied. One of two volumes comprising a group of two hundred and twenty-four autograph letters and copies and fragments of letters covering the period 1823-1917 and addressed chiefly to 'Nefydd'. -- There are references to British Schools at Holywell, Abertillery, Llanelly, and Pantyphilip; a proposal to transfer Ellis Evans's Baptist manuscripts to Llangollen Baptist College; a proposal to publish the works of 'P. A. Môn'; Baptist activities in America and Australia; the Baptist cause at Caerleon and in Monmouthshire generally; a proposal to safeguard 'Carnhuanawc's library; and the Vronissa Lead Mine, Ruthin.
