Papers, 1839-1931, relating to the Naylor family and the Leighton Hall and Brynllywarch estates, comprising accounts, rent schedules, valuations and sale catalogues, together with correspondence and other material relating to the family, and in particular to their activities as high sheriffs for Montgomeryshire.

Additional papers were received in July 2021, this material mainly comprising correspondence and newspaper cuttings, which trace the history of and events within the Naylor family and the Leighton Hall estate from the mid-nineteenth century to the near present day. The material includes a memorandum book, 1848-1856, belonging to John Naylor (1813-1889) of Leighton Hall.

The first group of documents deposited in 1976 comprises: deeds and documents, 1357-1963, including deeds relating to the Jones family of Llanloddian and Llandysilio, and the Harrison family estates in the counties of Denbigh and Montgomery, 1504-1912; the Pugh of Llanerchydol estates; the Naylor-Leyland estates in co. The second group, deposited and listed in 1980, comprises documents deriving from p. Forden, co. Mont., 1654-1856, many relating to the Lloyd family; further deeds and documents, 1722-1922, mainly deriving from properties in Forden, co. Mont.; documents relating to p. Chirbury, co. Shrop, 1725-1919, some concerning the Humphreys family; miscellaneous documents, 1679-1847, relating to co. Mont., mainly in p's Montgomery and Llandysul; deeds and documents, 1694-1926, concerning properties in p's Kerry and Llandysul, co. Mont.; correspondence and papers relating to Thomas Jones of Llantysilio, 1787-1836, to Major Robert J. The fourth group, deposited in Sept. 2000, comprises deeds and documents, 1775-1978, relating to properties in p's Berriew and Guilsfield and in the town of Welshpool, all co. Mont.
