Over sixty letters, 1840-1890, including some transcripts, mostly addressed to George Crawshay, from prominent political figures, reflecting his active rôle in politics, particularly with regard to the 'Foreign Affairs Committee' of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Among the correspondents are John Bright (1) 1854, Richard Cobden (13) 1844-1855, Ralph Waldo Emerson (4) 1847-1848, William Ewart Gladstone (1) 1857, Henry George Grey, 3rd earl Grey (7, including four transcripts) 1858-1880, Lajos Kossuth (1) 1855, John Stuart Mill (1) 1867, and Sir Robert Peel (1) 1846. Also included are eleven letters, 1854-1892, from George Crawshay including letters to Richard Cobden, Henry George Grey, 3rd earl Grey, and Harriet Angelina Urquhart, wife of David Urquhart, and transcripts of a letter from Giuseppe Garibaldi, 1859, and John Ruskin, 1860.

Letters, 1808-1885, from persons interested in social reforms, politics, and education, including John Bright, Richard Cobden, Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'), John Griffiths ('Gohebydd'), Walter D. Jerermy, Morgan Lloyd, Sir Theodore Martin, J. H. Puleston, Henry Richard, G. O. Trevelyan, Rowland Williams ('Hwfa Môn'), Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, and C. W. Williams Wynn, to Samuel Roberts ('S.R.'), with drafts of replies to some of them; from 'S.R.' to his father, his brother John, and others; from John Roberts ('J.R.') to George Roberts and others; from Humphrey Gwalchmai to John Hughes; from A. Rees to J. Holden; from C. W. Williams Wynn to the electors of Montgomeryshire; and a letter of introduction to friends in America given to 'S.R.' by William Henry Channing. There are also pamphlets relating to postal and other reforms.

A collection of some fifty-seven miscellaneous autograph letters, 1686/7-1930, mostly of Welsh interest, brought together by the dealer and collector Edward Hall, Surbiton.
Eighteen of the letters are correspondence of the barrister J. W. Buck, his wife Sophia (née Brigstoke, of Blaenpant, Cardiganshire), his sister Mrs Sarah Whittaker and their respective families, 1792-1825 (ff. 5-8, 10-43). Twelve letters, 1851, from various Welsh boroughs to H. W. R. Davey, Mayor of Beccles, Suffolk, relate to requests for copies of their borough seals (ff. 48-62).
