A manuscript containing Brut y Tywysogion, with which some such text as that of the Saxon Chronicle has, to some extent, been interwoven in the earlier part.

Ff. 17-76b, 80-80b are in the hand of George Owen of Henllys (see f. 59) and are dated 1577-1599; ff. 77-79b are in a later hand; ff. 83-86b belong to 1684; f. 87 is in the autograph of the Reverend Samuel Williams; and ff. 1-16b are in an eighteenth century hand.

Pp. 1-22 are in the hand of David Parry, and pp. 23-36 probably also in his hand. The poets cited include Taliesin, Sion Tudur and Dafydd ab Edmwnd.

The Life of Griffith ap Kynan,

A manuscript containing the Life of Griffith ap Kynan in Welsh and Latin (original foliation 1-40); and the Burial of Arthur (original foliation 45-52). Ff. 1-52 (original foliation) are written on one side only. The text of the Life of Griffith ap Kynan is complete, and agrees practically with that printed in the Myvyrian Archaiology. It is followed (original foliation 1-43) by a Latinised version entitled 'Vita Griffini Regis Venedotiæ a Thelwello juris perito in Latinum conversa' - against which is written in the margin: 'dele in Codice Sebright' - with, below, the title 'Vita Griffini Filij Conani Regis Venedotiæ' - against which is written 'In Latinum tradita per Nicholas Robinson episcopum Bangoriensem [1566-1584] - Cod[ice] Seb[right]' (cf. John Davies, Display of Heraldry (Salop, 1716), p. 11). Cf. Peniarth MSS 17, 267, 276 and Panton MS 26.

A manuscript containing poetry (pp. 3-10, 54-179, 181-362), the poets cited including Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Tudur Aled, Guto'r Glyn and Siôn Phylip; medical recipes taken from the texts of Meddygon Myddfai (pp. 11-16); Disgrifiad Arfau ('a Jon Trevor ai troes or Lladin ar ffrangeck yn gymraeck - August 1 . 1632' (pp. 25-53); a copy of a document relating to the boundaries of Cyfeiliog (p. 180), which bears a note at the end: 'It doeth beare date 1204 Mr. Edw: Herbert of Mountgomery had thorriginall deed in keepinge; Mr. Jenkyn gwyn and Mr. Ifan llwyd ap dd: esqrs. did copy the same per me Wythen Jones.'
The text is written in several hands, the principal hand occurring at pp. 3-10, 55-222, ?267-350, c. 1636 (see p. 219). The text was copied from a manuscript belonging to Evan Bowen of Penyrallt, Llanidloes.

Catalogues of Welsh manuscripts,

A manuscript containing a copy of the 'Catalogue of Welsh MSS.' by Aneurin Owen and Angharad Llwyd. At the end of the manuscript is a note reading 'Mem: June 29th 1827. The original Catalogue of A. Owen and Angharad Llwyd were this day delivered to the Rev. W. J. Rees of Cascob' (signed) 'John Jenkins' ['Ifor Ceri'].
The text agrees with that printed in Transactions of the Cymmrodorion, 1828, etc.

A manuscript containing poetry by Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Tudur Aled, Siôn Cent and others written in a hand similar to Llanstephan MS 163, pp. 1-102. The end of the manuscript contains a copy of pp. 392-406 of Philosophical Transactions (printed 1683).

A manuscript containing 'Ystoriaeu Owen ap Urien [pp. 13-56], y Llong Voel [pp. 57-64], Aristotle ac Alexander [pp. 65-75], a Saith Doethion Rhuvein [pp. 76-145]'; together with Breuddwyd Goronwy Ddu (pp. 146-153); 'Rhyveddodeu Ynys Brydein'(pp. 154-160); etc. The manuscript is in the hand of Ieuan ap Ieuan ap Madog: a note at the end of the volume states 'Ag velly y terfyna hyny o law drysgwl Jeuan ab Jayan ab madog yn y flwyddyn o ddât jessy grist . 1574' (see also Llanstephan MS 178). On pp. i-iv is a title page and table of contents in the hand of Lewis Morris.

Diverse Antiquities,

A manuscript in the autograph of Sir John Doddridge containing 'Dyvers Antiquyties ... Concerninge the Principallitie of Wales, the Duchey of Cornewall, and Earldome of Chester'.
The text contains references to the investiture of the princes of Wales over the centuries - including those of Edward I and Edward the 'Black Prince' - and the government of the principality of Wales and the Marches.

A manuscript containing poetry by Dafydd Benwyn, Lewys Morganwg, Rhisiart ap Rhys and others (pp. 15-202, 207-210, 241-243); prophecies of Merlin and of St David (pp. 205-206); biblical history (pp. 211-240); &c. There is a table of contents on p. 204.
Pp. 15-107 are in the autograph of Dafydd Benwyn (see pp. 25, 78, 81); pp. 110-203 were written c. 1624 (see p. 110); and pp. 211-240 are in the same hand as that in Llanstephan MS 134. The remaining pages are in various hands: pp. 108-109 and four lines of p. 209 may be in the autograph of Siôn Mawddwy, and pp. 241-243 may be in that of Edward Dafydd. For other copies of the text at pp. 211-240 (which is defective) see Peniarth MSS 20 and 253, and British Museum MS Cleopatra B. v.

Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain,

A manuscript containing a copy of Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain in the hand of Hugh Maurice.
The text is apparently the same as that in the printed edition of 1829.

Cerdd-lyfr Cymraeg,

A manuscript containing the works of the medieval Welsh bards, being a transcript by William Maurice, Llansilin (see p. 492) of British Museum Addl MS 14869. Pp. 69, 119 and 141 bear respectively the dates 1September, 4 October and 6 October [16]66; however, according to an autograph statement by William Maurice at the end of Addl MS 14869 (p. 245b), he completed the transcript on 24 November 1662.
Maurice notes (pp. 473-474) that the original manuscript (now known as British Museum Addl MS 14869), from which this text was transcribed, was partly written temp. Edward II and Edward III and partly temp. Henry V. In an autograph statement on pp. 473-474 William Maurice notes that this original manuscript was once in the possession of Gruffydd Dwnn (c. 1500-c. 1570), Huw Llŷn (fl. 1532-1594) and Rhys Cain (d. 1614), and subsequently came into the possession of Robert Vaughan 'or Wengraig ger llaw Dolgellau' (i.e. Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt (1592-1667)). A later note by 'M. W[illiams]' (p. 474) dated 1728 states that this original manuscript was then at Hengwrt.
