H. Morrey Salmon, 'A history of the kite Milnus milnus (L.) in Wales', 1971, in four parts: (I), Narrative and 1977 addenda; (II) Tabulated ecological area records by decades, 1891-1970, with maps; (III) Ecological area records; and (IV) Appendices: (i) Membership of the 'Kite Group', 1958-1970, and dates of meetings, (ii) Map locations of places named, (iii) Select bibliography, and (iv) Reports of the Kite Committee, 1949-1957, and of the 'Kite Group', 1958-1970. Original file of correspondence, mainly between the Nature Conservancy, the Forestry Commission and the RSPB, relating to the kites breeding in the Ystwyth Forest at Hafod, co. Card., including maps of nest sites, 1947-1972, the policy of "playing down" the Hafod kite population (see also E 8), forestry operations, Kite Committee voluntary wardens, the Caravan Club site at Hafod Old Mansion, 1972-1974, and the sale of the Hafod Arms Hotel, with the sporting rights over the old Hafod estate, 1980.

Kite Committee annual reports,

Original file comprising a copy of the 'The kite in Wales, 1970', the final issue of the annual report produced by Col Morrey Salmon for the old kite group, with an epilogue by Capt. Vaughan, and annual breeding season reports produced by Peter Davis, 1971-1989, including several typescripts, notes and revisions. The annual report to the Kite Committee comprised two sections: a single page confidential 'The kite (M.milvus) in Wales, <year>', which could be used publically once the breeding season was over, and a strictly confidential nest-by-nest 'Red kite breeding report for <year>'.

Kite annual breeding reports,

Original file of yearly breeding season reports, 1990-1999, many with the confidential section 2 containing the locations and success of each known breeding pair. Peter Davis compiled the report to the Kite Committe at the end of the breeding season, although there is frequently a revised report for the record in the light of further information. Also notes, drafts and circulation lists. Also site lists for 2000 and 2003, and Peter Davis's Welsh Kite Watchers Group nest record sheets for nests in the Nebo - Ffos-y-ffin - Felinfach area, co. Card., 2004.

Red Kite Country,

Original file of letters, memoranda, papers and publications relating to the Welsh Office / Development Board for Rural Wales / RSPB / Welsh Tourist Board initiative to develop the Spotting the Red Kite (the Red Kite Trail) project, the name being changed c.Feb. 1994 to Red Kite Country. A letter in the general correspondence file for 1990-2011 (E 32 below) mentions that the initiative expired in 1997.

Includes a copy of the Wales Raptor Study Group report, 2004; and heads of agreement (unsigned) between the Golden Eagle Trust of Ireland and the Welsh Kite Trust for the supply of 265 young Welsh red kites over five years for release in Co. Down and Co. Wicklow, 2007.
