A manuscript containing Welsh laws and pleadings. There is a pen and ink sketch of a plough on p. 105. The margins of pp. 38-95 contain index words to the subject-matter in the autograph of William Salesbury, as in Mostyn MS 159, to which pp. 123-124 belong. At the foot of pp. 123-124 there are notes in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn. There is also an englyn attributed to Iolo Goch in the hand of William Salesbury at the top of p. 72. The contents of the remainder of this manuscript consist of excerpts, as well as some later pleadings (e.g. p. 42). At p. 123 is a fragment of the Grail, being two columns of Mostyn MS 159.
From the invocations 'Gwenoc' (pp. 76, 112), 'Gwenod : Gwnnen' (pp. 56, 110), 'Gwenoc : Gwnen : Gwinionyd' (p. 111), and 'Gwenoc : Gwnen Gwinionyd ywch kerdin' (p. 120), it is inferred that this manuscript was written in the parish of Llan Wenog, Cardiganshire, or by a native of that parish, and the text furnishes an interesting specimen of the dialectical peculiarities of south Cardiganshire. Llanwnnen is an adjoining parish to the north-east. Both Llanwenog and Llanwnnen parishes were in the upper division of the ancient lordship of Gwynionydd. Castell Gwynionydd is supposed to have been on the summit of Côd y Vôl, near Llandysul, where the river Cerdin falls into the Teifi a little north of the church. The text of pp. 1-38 corresponds practically with pp. 464-588 of the 'Dimetian Code' in vol. i of The Ancient Laws & Institutes of Wales. The text at pp. 51-56 of this manuscript corresponds to pp. 366-378 of Volume ii of The Ancient Laws & Institutes of Wales, pp. 73-74 to pp. 122-124 and 152, and pp. 96-97 to p. 342.

A manuscript containing poetry (pp. 17-42), the poets including Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ab Edmwnt and others, with poetry included also within other sections of the text; triads attributed to Taliesin (p. 16); the Rood legend (pp. 97-103); apocryphal gospels (pp. 104-153, 259-269, 272, 274-276); the Purgatory of Patrick (pp. 202-212); lives of saints (pp. 161-187); proverbs and adages, etc. (pp. 10-12, 14-15, 299-300); prayers (pp. 13, 238-250, 255); vocabulary (pp. 95-96); a planisphere, calendar, planetary tables and other astrological material (pp. 43-86, 89-90, 281-291); interpretation of dreams (pp. 91, 94); palmistry (pp. 92-93); directions concerning bleeding, medical recipes, etc. (pp. 1-9, 87-88, 236, 277-280, 300c-301); &c. A note on p. 221 states that 'Ieuan ap William ap dd: ap ejnws ajysgrivenodd yllyvr hwn i gyd ari gost ihvn i gael o bobyl ddifyrwch o hono alles yw heneidiav o hwn'; there are, however, a few pages (pp. 139-142, etc.) in other hands. There is a table of contents at the beginning in the hand of Richard Morris, 1784-1785, and another at the end by ?William Jones, who states that the manuscript was 'procured me by Mr. Holmes of the Tower'.
The dates appended to many of the subjects in the text show that the binder is responsible for the present derangement of the folios.

A manuscript entitled 'Carpiog Aber Llyfeni', i.e. the 'Tattered [Book] of Aberllefenni, containing poetry, the poets cited including Iolo Goch, Huw Machno, Siôn Mawddwy, Siôn Brwynog, Guto'r Glyn, Rhisiart Phylip, Siôn Phylip and others. There is an index to authors, alphabetically arranged, 1746, by Richard Morris on pp. 673-689; and a list of first lines, with authors' names, on pp. 693-711.
The volume is made up of two different manuscripts. Fifteen poems are wanting at the beginning of the first part, which breaks off in the middle of its 105th poem (p. 176). The second part begins in the middle of its 20th poem (p. 177) and ends with the 12th line of its 309th poem. Pp. 1-668 are written in the same hand as that of Mostyn MS 160 and Peniarth MS 114, while pp. 669-712 are in later hands.

A miscellaneous collection of prophecies, etc. in prose and verse (including those of Myrddin and Taliesin), probably in the hand of William Phylip. There is a table of contents by Richard Morris at the beginning, written April 1748 for William Jones.

A manuscript containing a chronology, mainly of kings and rulers of Wales (pp. 1, 33-37, 43-48, 49-60, 100, 111-113); arms, mainly of kings and rulers of Wales (pp. 2-8, 9, 99); pedigrees, mainly of kings and rulers of Wales and England (pp. 9b-88, 89-98, 224-152, 155-158, 164-186, 188); and poetry, which includes triads (pp. 38-42, 100-110, 159-163, 187, 190).
The folios of different manuscripts, or of one manuscript written by different hands at different times, have been mixed together in binding.

The 'book of Jaspar Griffith', containing poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym, Rhys Fardd, Iolo Goch, Taliesin, Dafydd Llwyd ap Llywelyn ap Gruffudd [Dafydd Llwyd, Mathafarn] and others. Item 1 is a series of complaints between several parties 'fel y maent yn scrifennedic o Law Gyttyn Owein'. Items 2-15, 17-46 contain a series of englynion 'o hen lyfr oedd gyd a S. Trefor Trefalun'. There is a note at item 128 possibly in the hand of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd. A note at Item 201 states: 'Hyn sy yn canlyn a dynnais i allan o'r Llyfr Du o Gaerfyrddin'. The first line of item 264 is given by some as the first line of Item 263, which forms a second half of this cywydd. For Items 266 and 270, where Huw Pennant and Dafydd ab Edmwnt are here given respecitvely as the authors of the works, a later insertion claims authorship as being that of Dafydd Llwyd ap Llywelyn ap Gruffudd (Dafydd Llwyd, Mathafarn).
Jaspar Griffith at one time had in his care or possession Peniarth MSS 1 and 53, both of which are largely copied in this manuscript. The style of the handwriting resembles certain of Griffith's marginalia in Peniarth 1 and 53 so it is inferred that this manuscript is also in his hand. The paper used for this manuscript was originally designed for what looks like a Latin vocabulary; however, one line only was written at the top (now the bottom, inverted) of the page. Items 159-172 are as in Peniarth MS 53 (pp. 1-29, 34) but more complete here. Cf. Peniarth MS 50 (pp. 222b-236, 304). Items 175, 176, 177, 180, 181, 182, 183, 190 occur also on pp. 15, 54, 112, 88, 91, 126, 99, 68 respectively of Peniarth MS 53. The text at items 203-236, 271-274 corresponds with Peniarth MS 1. Inserted at Item 237 is a transcript 'verbatim out of a printed book now supposed to be in the custody ... of Hugh Bevan ... of Llanwnen', which describes the 'Characters' of the gentry of Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire during the Protectorate. The note is signed 'O. P. Maridunensis'.

A manuscript containing Welsh laws (pp. 1-96) and the 'Elucidations' (pp. 97-535), written in the hand of John Jones, Gellilyfdy prior to 25 September 1619 (see pp. 67, 535). Where the text is imperfect Moses Williams has written its contents in the margins.
The text of pp. 1-96 of this manuscript corresponds with that of Peniarth MS 29, pp. 1-51, while the remainder may be a copy of Peniarth MS 278. The original of pp. 97-535 was either imperfect or frequently illegible as dots indicating lacunae are frequent. Much of the matter of this second part is the same as the 'Elucidations' in Ancient Laws and Institutes of Wales, Vol. ii, Book XIV. The text ends abruptly at the beginning of the sixth line on p. 535.

A manuscript, written in the same hand as Llanstephan MSS 123-125, containing poetry, the poets cited including Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Lewis Glyn Cothi and Siôn Phylip. The first half of the cywydd at p. 35 is missing. The poems at pp. 37, 40, 43 were copied from imperfect originals and are full of lacunae. That which appears at p. 292 is apparently not the beginning of the poem as there is a page left blank between this and the previous poem. On pp. 633-646 is an index, with the poets' names arranged alphabetically, 'made by Richard Morris for Wm: Jones F.R.S. in London 1746.'

A manuscript written after 1643 (see p. 199) containing poetry, the poets cited including Iolo Goch, Ieuan Tew Brydydd, Wiliam Cynwal, Lewis Menai and Siôn and Rhisiart Phylip. An index, with the poets' names arranged alphabetically, has been added at pp. 641-651 by Richard Morris 'i Wm: Jones F.R.S. yn llundain 1746'.
The original or originals of this manuscript were apparently often defective as many lacunae and imperfect lines occur: the beginning of the poem at p. 139 is wanting and the rest is very imperfect; the beginning of the poem at p. 181 is wanting as that which is noted as the first line here is in fact the 8th or 10th line; 'A chanoes ac ychwaneg a ranno dvw ir wen dêg' is added in a later hand on p. 316; an addition in the margin at p. 435 ends the poem with 'do'n ifanc ai i nefoedd'.

A manuscript written c. 1648 (see p. 658) containing poetry, the poets cited including Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Wiliam Cynwal and Siôn and Rhisiart Phylip. An index, with the poets' names arranged alphabetically, has been added at pp. 659-672 by Richard Morris for William Jones in London, 1746.
Many lines and half lines are wanting throughout the text owing probably to the imperfection or illegibility of the originals.

A manuscript containing the Mabinogion (pp. 1-64); the Dream of Maxen Wledic (p. 65); the Adventure of Llvdd and Llevelys (p. 74); and the History of Kulhwch and Olwen (pp. 81-120).
The text was transcribed from the Red Book of Hergest and collated by Moses Williams.

A manuscript in the autograph of Moses Williams containing Welsh proverbs translated into Latin. Inside the front cover is inscribed: 'Transcribed out a MS. writ by Dr Davies. The Drs.' First and Second Translations are in the Harleian Library. There is another Copy with additions by Mr Vaughan of Hengwrt.' The transcript is mostly written on one side only of the folios, leaving the other side for the many additions made by the transcriber. After f. 97 there are five leaves of additions on paper of a smaller size, and ff. 129-138 contain 'additional Proverbs by Mr. W. Langford late Parson of Llan fawr communicated by the Rev. Mr. Ball Vicar of Northop'.
This collection of proverbs is fuller than the one printed by Dr John Davies at the end of his Dictionary.

A manuscript containing Brut y Tywysogion, with which some such text as that of the Saxon Chronicle has, to some extent, been interwoven in the earlier part.

A manuscript written by 'Ifan llwyd ap Dafydd o Nantmynach o fewn sir ferionedd esguier' containing 'Ystorie Kymrü, neü Cronigl kymraeg' from Brutus (1108 B.C.) to Cadwaladr Fendigaid (683 A.D.).

A manuscript containing a Roman Catholic primer in Welsh compiled from English sources. The text is full of English words and some of the headings indicate its sources (see ff. 70, 147).

A manuscript containing Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and Carmarthenshire pedigrees (ff. 1-76, 80-87); the beginning of the Welsh Laws (ff. 77-79); and a table of the contents of ff. 17-76b (f. 80).
Ff. 17-76b, 80-80b are in the hand of George Owen of Henllys (see f. 59) and are dated 1577-1599; ff. 77-79b are in a later hand; ff. 83-86b belong to 1684; f. 87 is in the autograph of the Reverend Samuel Williams; and ff. 1-16b are in an eighteenth century hand.

A manuscript in the hand of Moses Williams entitled 'Lexicon Historicum Brit:', being an index to the proper names occurring in the Triads, the Mabinogion, Englynion y Clywaid, De Situ Brecheniauc (MS Cott.), 'Gwehelyth Saint Ynys B.' (Harleian MS 95 A. XVI), Achau y Saint, Llyfr Gutun Owain, Historia Kulhwch ac Olwen, Breuddwyd Maxen, Breuddwyd Rhonabwy, Cyfranc Lludd a Llefelys and Brut y Tywysogion.

A manuscript containing an 'Important Corpus of Welsh Poetry' compiled by the Reverend Samuel Williams and Iaco ab Dewi [James Davies], with the first lines of the poems given alphabetically in an index. The volume also contains 'Histori Pren y Fuchedd', and a (non-autograph) letter from Siôn Mawddwy to Meurig Dafydd. Added at the end of the volume is a fifty-page index to the authors of the poems compiled by Richard Morris in 1747. Ff. 196-243 (containing poems numbered 632-737) are in the autograph of Iaco ab Dewi, while the remainder of the volume, excluding the end index, is in the hand of Samuel Williams. The poets cited include Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Mawddwy, Gruffudd Hiraethog, Tudur Aled and Siôn Phylip.
