An imperfect composite volume written in a number of hands but mainly in a late sixteenth century hand. The following note by J. H. Davies is written on one of the upper fly-leaves: 'This MS is supposed to be in the hand of Sion Brwynog (see Cwrtmawr MS 11.493). It was copied by the Rev. David Ellis, then of Amlwch in 1777 and was then perfect. The copy is now MS 11 in my collection'. This supposition cannot be correct since Siôn Brwynog died in 1562 and some of the poems were composed after that date. The hand also differs from that in Peniarth MS 61 which J. Gwenogvryn Evans tentatively attributed to Siôn Brwynog (See also Eurys I. Rowlands 'Llaw dybiedig Siôn Brwynog', Cylchgrawn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru (The National Library of Wales Journal), Vol. VII, pp. 381-2). The volume contains 'cywyddau' and a few 'awdlau' by Mathew Bromffild, Tudur Aled, Jhon Brwynog, Lewys Mon, Jhon Tudur, Rys Goch Glynn Dyfrdwy, Morys ap Ieuan ap Einion [Morus Dwyfech], Gwilym ap Sefnyn, Gvttor Glynn, Howel Reinalld, Wiliam Llyn, Lewis Daron, Dafydd Pennant, Roger Kyffin, Gwilym ap Ifan Hen, Gvttvn Owain, Cynwig ap Dafydd Goch, Owain ap Ll[ewelyn ap y] Moel, Rys Goch yr Yri (Rys goch ap D'd), Robin Ddv Fardd, Tudur Penllyn, Rys Pennarth, Lewys ap Edwart, Lewys Daron, Lewys Menai, Robert Ifans, Lewys Morgannwg, Owain Waed Ta, Gruff. Some of the pages which have been repaired have also been made up by a later hand and the ink in these portions has faded badly. One page of the volume has been made up by J. H. Davies. The spine is lettered 'Llyfr Kywyddau'.

A volume of 'cywyddau', etc. transcribed by W[illiam] H[enry] Mounsey in 1859 from manuscripts in the British Museum ('Barddoniaeth sef Casgliad O Waith Beirdd Cymru. Tynwyd allan y Casgiad hwn O Ysgriflyfrau yn yr Amgueddfa Brydeinig Genyf fi, Wiliam Henri Mounsey O Gaerliwelyd [sic] yn Sir Cwmberland. 1859'), together with annotations by D. Silvan Evans. The majority of the prose texts were transcribed from manuscripts in the British Museum during the period 1859-60 and many of them were printed in Y Brython, 1859-60. The spine is lettered 'Welsh and Irish Tracts. W. H. Mounsey'.

A volume (watermark 1870) containing transcripts of poems in strict metre by Gruffydd Phylip, Syr Owain ap Gwilym, Richard Phylip, Siôn Phylip, Siôn Dafydd Siancyn and Richard Cynwal. The original pagination is defective and sections are wanting at the beginning and elsewhere in the volume. The volume was probably transcribed by Robert Prys Morris ('Robyn Frych'). The name 'Robyn Frych?' has been written in pencil inside the front cover.

A volume (78 pp.) written in several hands, in part at least between 1755 and 1763, containing medical recipes headed 'Cynghorion', 'englynion' by William Phylip, Gr. ap Ievan 'o lannerch llyweni', 'Robin ddu o hir Addig', Einion ap Gwalchmai, extracts from 'Talysau [sic] yr hen Oesodd' [sic]', 'englynion' between 'Colwyn' and 'Craff' ('gwaith brus mawr. Evanvs Thomasvs'), 'geiriau gwir Taliessin', and a numbered series of medical recipes headed 'Cynghorion amriw ddolurie'. There are also memoranda giving the date of birth of some of the children of Thomas Lewis and Margratte [sic] Evanes, etc., and some accounts [?Penllyn district, Merioneth].

Two notebooks in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing transcripts of 'cywyddau', etc. by the following poets: Wiliam Llyn, Huw Llyn, Morys Dwyfech, Lewis Daron, Sion Wyn Owain, Kadwaladr Kesel, Huw Machno, Edmwnd Prys, Sion Philipp, Gruffydd Phylips, Huw Pennant, Lewis Menai, Wiliam Kynwal, Rissiart Philip, Richard Kynwal, Rhus Kain, Howel Reinallt, Sion Brwynog, Watkin Klewedog, Morgan ap Huw Lewis, Inco Brydydd, Dafydd Na[n]mor, Gruffudd Grug, Iolo Goch, Owain Waed da and Llywelyn Goch ap Meurig hên. Nearly all the poems are eulogies of, or elegies on , persons from Llŷn and Eifionydd. On the first page of MS 507 is the following note by J. H. Davies: 'Codwyd o lawysgrif Mr J. Glyn Davies ? Gan Myrddin Fardd' and it seems probable that the contents of MS 507 and the first ten items in MS 508 were transcribed from J. Glyn Davies MS 2 (though not in the same order), perhaps with a view to publication. The remaining poems appear to have been transcribed from various sources, including Cwrtmawr MS 454. Pasted in after the poems in MS 508 are two newspaper cuttings relating to 'Phylipiaid Ardudwy'.

A manuscript in the hand of Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn; 1701-65) based on a volume entitled 'Mysteria Kabalae Bardicae' and on other sources quoted by the scribe. There are a few entries by Peter Bailey Williams (1821), and also by St Geo[rge] Armstrong Williams, who has included a short biography of Lewis Morris.

A manuscript described as 'Llyfr o hen areithiau a Chywyddau' in the hand of Michael Prichard of Llan Llyfni. It contains poetry, largely in the form of 'cywyddau', by Michael Prichard, Sion Phylipp, Sion Tydur, Rhys Cain, Huw Llwyd Cynfel, Robert ab Howel ab Morgan, William Llyn, Dafydd ab Euan ab Owen, y Rhys ab Ednyfed, Owen Griffith, Thomas Lloyd [recte Prys] (Plas Iolyn), Dafydd Manuel, Wmphrey Dafydd ab Ifan ('Clochydd Llann brenn Mair'), Elis Rowland, Gryffydd ap Llywelyn Fychan, Wiliam Cynwal, Edward ap Rhys, and Thomas Llwyd (Penmen), and anonymous poems; 'Hanes y Twrstan, neu araith S. Tudyr', 'Breuddwyd Sion Tudur', and 'Prognosticasiwn Sion Tydur'; and a mediaeval Welsh glossary ('Llymma bart o'r hen Gymraeg; ar iaith arferedig wrthi') extracted from a book of Thomas Price of Plas Jolyn. The volume was compiled during the period 1726-9. There are a few additions in other hands, among them 'englynion' in praise and in memory of Michael Prichard by William Elias, [Griffith Williams] ('Gutyn Peris'), etc. At the end are two incomplete indexes, the one by Michael Prichard and the other by Owen Williams, Waunfawr. The spine is lettered 'Michael Prichard MS'.

An imperfect volume in the hand of Edward Lhuyd containing ['Araith Siôn Tudur']; 'cywyddau' largely by Tomas Prys and D[afydd] ab G[wilym], but with a few by Sion Dafydd Lâs, Wiliam Llun, William Fylip, Sion Filip, Sion Tudur, Sion Morgan (1689), and Owain Gwynedd, and '[Araith] Wgon'. Laid down on the fly-leaf is a note in the hand of E. G. B. Phillimore identifying the scribe.

Lewis, Iolo Goch, Gutto or Glynn, Richard Kynwal, Robt ap Rees Wynn ('o Arianog'), Rowland Vychan, Richard Kynfol, Y Prydydd Hael, Evan Deulwyn, Doctor Sion Kent, Edward Mayelor, D'd ap Gwilim, Tudur Aled, Risiart Gele, Sion Tudur, Simwnt Vychan, Ievan Gethin ap Ie'nn ap Lleision, Evan Lloyd brydydd, Madog Benfras, Howel Gethin, Llowdden, Sion Phillip, Robt. An incomplete and badly mutilated manuscript of the early seventeenth century containing 'cywyddau' by Gruffith ap Ieuan, Ifann Deulwyn, Bedo Aerddrain, Llywelyn ap D'd Fychan, Sion Tudur, Lewis Mon, Dafydd ap Gwilim, etc., and anonymous 'englynion'. The poems are written on the dorse of folded late sixteenth century answers to interrogatories in legal actions.

A holograph manuscript of David (Dafydd) Samwell ('Dafydd Ddu Feddyg', 1751-98). The volume was compiled during and immediately after the period 1788-9 and contains a draft of 'A short Account of the Life and Writings of Hugh (Huw) Morris [of Pontymeibion, Llansilin]'; poetry in strict and free metres by Huw Morys, Edward Samuel (Llangar), Thomas Edwards ('Twm o'r Nant'), Edward Llwyd, Elis Edwards, William Wynne (Llanganhafal), Hugh Jones (Llangwm), David Samwell, John Lloyd ('Vicar Llandrillo'), Daniel Davies (London), [John Roderick] 'Sion Rhydderch', Gryffydd ap Ivan ap Llewelyn Fychan, and Edwd. A volume of sermons, including funeral sermons, preached during the period 1642-1663 at Mold ('apud Montem Altum'), Llangynocke, Llaneurgayn, Llanvyllyn, Pennant, Langwm, Lann Rayder?, Beryw (Berew), Gwyddelwern, Llanwythyn, and Llwydiarth, together with prayers, among them being 'A prayer & Thanksgivinge [for the success of Prince Rupert] to bee vsed in the churches of North Wales 1644', and some later additions. On one of the fly-leaves is a stanza in 'triban' metre to the curate of Llan Gwstennyn.

A copy of Rhys Jones (ed.): Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (Amwythig, 1773), with copious late eighteenth century manuscript additions entered partly in the margin and partly (largely) on bound-in leaves at the beginning and the end. The majority of the additions are in the hand of Jacob Jones, recipient of the volume (see note, below). John Davies, Antiquae Linguae Britannicae .... et Linguae Latinae Dictionarium Duplex (London, 1632), with marginal insertions and with additional texts at the beginning and the end partly in the hand of Robert Vaughan (1592?-1666), Hengwrt, Merionethshire. The additions include '15 qual[i]ties of a good horse', 'Pymth[eg] cynneddf march da', 'Am yr Attaliadau. A'u Gwir Ddeunydd' ('Y mae chwe mâth o attaliadau mewn Llyfrau printiedig ac mewn Yscrifen ... '), two 'englynion' by John Davies in a copy of his dictionary presented to Rolant Vychan of Caergai, 'An admonition for the reading of the British words', 'Geiriau or Un Swn ac nid o'r un Feddwl', and 'The Numbers, Names, qualities, Royalties, Footings, Degrees of Age etc. of Beasts of the Forests according as they are termed of skillfull Forresters and Woodmen' (the latter from John Guillim, A Display of Heraldrie). On the inside lower cover is a paste-down of the certificate of subscription, 20 March 1767, by Thomas Owen of Jesus College, Oxford [rector of Upton Scudamore, Wiltshire, from 1779 until his death in 1812.].

A scrap-book compiled, with a holograph introduction and table of authors, by David Evans, Llanrwst containing press cuttings, largely from Llais y Wlad, 1875-?81, of 'cywyddau' and 'awdlau', with annotations.
