Llangernyw and Lanrwst title deeds,

Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd and the Lordship of Dyffryn Clwyd title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the parish of Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd, comprising lands in the townships of Llwynydd and Rhisgog, 1394, 1496, 1607; miscellaneous properties in Llanbedr, 1512, 1597, 1629, 1740; and properties in Rhiw Isaf, 1555-1626. The series also includes a bundle of leases and associated documents for the lordship of Dyffryn Clwyd, 1565-1602, of which the chief rents were due to the Earl and Countess of Warwick

Llanelidan and Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the parishes of Llanelidan and Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd. The files describe title deeds for properties in Llanelidan, Bacheirig and Llannerch, 1492-1604 and the township of Garthgynan, 1548-1612, 1706; and leases of houses and lands in Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, 1740.

Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the parish of Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch, relating to Llewesog, Caerserwyd, Clicedig and Llwyn, 1461, 1571-1599; Pentre Llech, 1521, 1622-1740; the Manor of Kilford, 1594, 1633; Accer y Gwndir, Llech, 1614-1616; a fee farm rent in Llech, 1629, 1727-1743; and Pennant Issa and Tu Newydd in the township of Cader, 1678-1746. Some properties were purchased by Sir William Williams and his son Sir Watkin Williams Wynn. Others appear to have belonged to the Salusbury family of Bachymbyd and Lleweni.

Llanynys, Ruthin and other parishes, title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties mainly in the parishes of Llanynys and Ruthin, but also in other nearby parishes; some had belonged to the Thelwall family of Plas y Ward and others had been purchased by Sir Watkin Williams Wynn in the eighteenth century. Some of the bundles are original, recording the acquisition of the lands in both parishes which formed the core of the Plas y Ward estate in the early fifteenth century and subsequent leases by the Thelwall family. Many of the early deeds for Ruthin supply the names of streets, landmarks and castle officials, showing the development and occupation of the town during the late medieval and Tudor periods. The files are arranged as: Llanynys, miscellaneous properties, 1322, 1542-1584, 1718; Ruthin, Tir y Warde, Maesmaencymro, etc., 1329-1527; burgages in Ruthin and Llanfwrog, 1423-1559, 1661-1706; Ruthin, Bryncaredig, Maesmaencymro and Clocaenog, 1454-1543; Ruthin, Llanynys and Clocaenog, 1500-1544; Maesmaencymro, miscellaneous properties, 1511-1739; Welsh Street or Talysarne, Ruthin, 1632-1661; Rhydycilgwyn in Maesmaencymro, 1689-1770; Ruthin, Llan-rhudd and Oswestry, 1692-1770; Glanclwyd in Llanynys and Llanhychan, 1695-1774; and Plas y Ward in Llanynys, Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd and Ruthin, 1722, 1779.

Vale of Clwyd/Plas y Ward, misc. title deeds,

Title deeds which do not fit readily into the previous categories, mainly because they name several parishes in a single transaction or they include properties which appear not to have belonged to Wynnstay. The files describe miscellaneous Thelwall deeds relating to Ruthin and Dyffryn Clwyd, 1543-1623; mortgages of the Thelwall family, 1598-1672; and the will of Robert Jones of Cuddington, Buckinghamshire, devising property in Denbighshire, 1754.

Title deeds relating to properties in the parish of Llangollen, mainly acquired by Owen Vaughan of Llwydiarth and Watkin Kyffin of Glascoed. The files describe Eglwysegl, Dinbren and the manor of Cynllaith Owain, 1555-1652; Hafodgynfor, 1599-1661, Nantygwryd, 1615-1676; miscellaneous properties and tithes in Llangollen, 1618-1734, 1856; Crogeniddon and Cilcochwyn, 1620-1665; and Eglwysegl and Dinbren leases, 1713-1734.

Some of the properties belonged to the Watstay estate of the Eyton family and Sir John Wynn, but several more were acquired in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to expand the Wynnstay home estate.

Title deeds relating to properties in the parish of Wrexham, mainly belonging to Sir John Wynn of Watstay, with later leases by the Williams Wynn family. The files describe miscellaneous deeds for properties in Wrexham, 1293-1464, 1617-1772; Stansty, 1578-1727; deeds of Parke y Llys and the Hanson family, 1579-1697; Wrexham Abbot, 1648, 1702, 1708; Esclusham, 1648, 1691, 1773; Bersham, 1692-1695; Abenbury, 1701-1782; and Bryn y Ffynnon Hall in Wrexham Regis and Wrexham Abbot, 1713-1848.

Misc. Denbighshire deeds,

Miscellaneous Denbighshire deeds which may be relevant to the Wynnstay estate, although in some cases the connection is tenuous or unclear. They comprise a quitclaim of rights, dues and taxes by Robert Earl of Leicester, [?1563x1565]; a bond relating to a grant of the rectories of Chirk, Llansanffraid, Llandysilio and Bryneglwys, 1588; grant of an annuity to Sir Robert Salesbury, 1598, recovery of the manor of Llanegwest, Denbighshire rents and rectorial tithes, 1664-1668/9; and a copy will of Sir Thomas Myddelton, 1680.
