An excise book containing four pages of excise accounts, [c. 1799]; texts of sermons; anonymous stanzas; free-metre poetry by D[avid] Thomas ['Dafydd Ddu Eryri'] ('Aelod o Gymdeithas y Dderwen freiniol'), 1788 and undated, and T[?homas] Edwards [?'Twm o'r Nant']; verses left at the White Lion, Calais, and at the Ship Inn Dover, 'suppos'd to be written by Mrs. Piozzi'; a list (numbered 1-32) of curious flowers and plants at Trefeilir, Anglesey; an anonymous 'cywydd'; and a recipe.

A volume (511 pp.) containing 'Enwogion Sir Gaernarfon ... gan Ymchwiliwr' ['sef John Jones (Myrddin Fardd)' added in another hand], a prize-winning entry at the Caernarfon National Eisteddfod, 1877; it is fuller than the published work bearing the same title. Inserts include a letter, 29 January 1806, from D[avid] T[homas] ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), Waunfawr to ?[David Owen ('Dewi Wyn o Eifion')] (the illness and death of the writer's brother, Humphrey [Thomas]), a letter, 1905, from [the Reverend] E[van] Evans, Llansadwrn Rectory, Menai Bridge to ['Myrddin Fardd'] (names of subscribers to Cynfeirdd Lleyn), a copy by 'Glynn' of the inscription on the (?) tombstone of the Reverend J. H. Hughes ('Ieuan o Leyn'), a letter, year not given, from [the Reverend] D. Roberts, Llanelidan Rectory, Ruthin to John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') (replying to a query concerning his father, the late Reverend William Roberts, rector of Llanddeiniolen), and a number of press cuttings, etc. There are also some sheets (161-173 and 329) from a later manuscript version of 'Enwogion Sir Gaernarfon' and a transcript by [W. H. Roberts ('Iseifion')] of a note by 'Myrddin Fardd' on David Williams, MP, JP, DL ('Dewi Heli') (see Cwrtmawr MS 932D).

Miscellaneous papers including a copy of a translation into Welsh by David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri') of Thomas Gray's 'Bard'; a scheme for a novel based on Llangaffo in Anglesey written on the backs of circulars relating to a concert at Caernarvon in aid of J[ames] Sauvage, tenor, 1875; a draft plan of a novel entitled 'Tipyn o bobpeth'; an essay entitled 'Eisteddfod Caergybi' by 'Vox'; a draft biographical sketch of Rolant Pritchard, Aberffraw, 1766-1843; and a draft elegy upon the death of Gertrude [Hughes], Lady Dinorben, 1871.

A small volume entitled 'Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn, 1805', containing 'englynion' (chiefly epitaphs), stanzas in free metre including hymn stanzas, and one or two longer poems (e.g. 'Awdl ar Dosturi 1809' and 'Pillion i Dwm or Nant herwydd ei Lyfr, sef Ban y Byd - Creglais o Groglofft &c, 1809, Ebrill 27') by and in the autograph of John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'). Other poets represented are Griffth Williams('Guttun Peris'), W. Elias and O[wen] Griffith. There is also a list of unfamiliar Welsh words ('Geiriau Cymraeg dieithrol yn amlwg'), with the following note: 'Hyn a gymerwyd o gasgliadau Thos Prys Esqur, Plas Iolun, a D. Ddu a S. Lleyn'. On p. 58 is the note 'Mai 11. 1812 Priodais' [see Cwrtmawr MS 510, p. 106].

A minute book of the Berriew branch of the Montgomeryshire Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, 1818-20, together with lists of subscriptions and donations, 1818-25, and an account of Bibles distributed in the parish, 1819-23. The greater part of the volume is based on manuscripts of Dr Griffith Roberts (1735-1808), Dolgellau (Peniarth MSS 99, 100, ?152) and on 'Cronfa Dafydd Thomas, alias Dafydd Ddu o'r Yri' (Cwrtmawr MS 72). There are annotations and additions by Owen Williams, Waunfawr, Peter Bailey Williams, Llanrug and one annotation by D[aniel] S[ilvan] Evans. The manuscript is bound uniformly with Cwrtmawr MSS 10-11 and the spine is lettered 'Dafydd Ellis MS'.

In a note on the aforementioned 'title-page' (p. 199) Edward Williams claims to have transcribed this collection in 1799 from a manuscript in the possession of Siams Thomas of Maerdy Newydd, co. Glamorgan. Preceding and following the actual text of the collection are transcripts of a prefatory letter dated 1685 (pp. 201-06) and of the concluding note already referred to (p. 390) both of which are attributed to the Glamorgan scribe and copyist Thomas ab Iefan of Tre Bryn as compiler of the manuscript from which Edward Williams was allegedly copying (see TLLM, t. 172; IM, tt. 291-4). Pp. 391-477 contain a transcript of a collection, in alphabetical order, of over three thousand Welsh proverbs attributed to Cattwg Ddoeth ('Llyma Ddiarhebion Cattwg Ddoeth . . . sef yw hwnn Ail Lyfr y Gwyddfardd Cyvarwydd'). This collection, according to the aforementioned note at the end of the preceding section (p. 390) attributed to Thomas ab Iefan, had been compiled by the said Thomas from various sources and formed a continuation of the previous section. Edward Williams's claim with regard to the Siams Thomas volume is probably intended to apply to the contents of pp. 391-477 as well. The contents of pp. 199-390 have been published in The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales . . ., vol. III (London, 1807), pp. 1-99.

Written in America and published in the Chester Chronicle June 14 1805'; 'Catechism Byr'; memoranda and extracts dealing with the history of Protestantism (e.g. 'Erthyglau Lambeth', 'Erthyglau Cymmanfa Dort ... 1618', 'Calvin', 'Bacsteriaeth', 'Arminiaeth', etc.); poetry by Gruffudd Wiliam ('Gutyn Peris'), 1807; 'Gweddillion Englynion yr Eos, a luniwyd yn yr Eisteddfod Ynghaerwys 1567 a gopiwyd allan o lyfr y Bardd Côch o Fon Mai 1807'; fragmentary notes and extracts (e.g. 'Y Saith Gelfyddyd (7 Rural Arts)', 'Y Saith Gysgadur', 'Enwau y Gwyr a gyfansoddasant y llyfr a elwir Gweddi Gyffredin Mai B.A. 1549', 'A Critique on the third Book of Paradise Lost', etc.); 'Emyn, allan o'r Saesoneg'; etc. Appended to one of the poems, 'Cwyn yr Henwr methiant', is the following note; 'Sepr. 7th 1805.
