The 2014 Donation

The 2014 Donation mainly consists of the personal papers of the Revd Alwyn Thomas, who was the Secretary of Undeb Dirwest Gogledd Cymru / North Wales Temperance Union and the Secretary of Undeb Dirwestol Eglwysi Cristionogol Cymru / Temperance Council of Christian Churches of Wales. Included are correspondence; addresses and statements delivered by him; printed material; annual reports of Undeb Dirwest Gogledd Cymru; two scrapbooks relating to the temperance movement and activities; posters; and papers relating to the 1975 Campaign.

2016 Deposit,

The group consists of documents, publications, and campaign material of the Labour Party in Wales, 1946-2011, containing minute books, election manifestos, correspondence, notes, policy documents, annual reports, and press cuttings; also campaign material and ephemera such as leaflets, posters, booklets, memorabilia and campaign cards.

Administrative Papers

Papers relating to the administration of the Bristol Welsh Society, including financial papers, account statements, and committee correspondence, 1944-2018; Secretary's files, including correspondence and reports, 1985-2017 (with gaps); and other administrative documents relating to the Society's Constitution, Presidents, and matters such as insurance policy, 1986-2018 (with gaps).

Manuscripts

Papers of Raymond Garlick, 1944-2005, comprising poetry, 1951-1999; letters, 1944-2003, from Elwyn Davies, Jonah Jones, Brenda Chamberlain, Cledwyn Hughes, A. G. Prys-Jones and others; and diaries and travel journals, 1950, 1956-1957, 1987-1998, 2000-2001. The diaries contain frequent references to his family, including his children Iestyn and Angharad, and to friends such as John Cowper Powys, Jon Dressel, R. S. Thomas and Roland Mathias.

Boxes 26-30 are not in strict chronological order due to the quantity of the material and the lack of dating evidence.

Events and activities

Papers, including correspondence and press cuttings, relating to the events and activities of the Bristol Welsh Society, 1948-2019 (with gaps), including term cards; Eisteddfod and Rally programmes; papers relating to the arrangement of events such as the Annual Charity Concerts, St David's Day, and 50th Anniversary celebrations; and papers relating to the arrangement of other activities such as carol services and social evenings.

An additional group of paper collated by Rhiannon Hoddinot. Some items, including letters to Rhiannon and press articles post-date the death of Alun Hoddinott in 2008.
