German Prisoner of War Letter,

From ‘[unknown] Kanze’, from the 42nd Stationary Hospital [France?] to his mother in Dürrenberg, Liepzig. Speaks of his injury, praises the care he is receiving in the English hospital and states the German patients are treated just the same as the English - the English patients treat the Germans as equals.

This collection consists of war diaries, 1916-1918, of the 14th (Service Battalion), Royal Welsh Fusiliers. The diaries, with some entries written in the hand of Major Wynn Wheldon, give a day-to-day chronicle of the activities of the battalion on the Western Front including reports on operations and actions, particulars of casualties, etc.
