The Gododdin, &c.

Two volumes of transcripts, [1758], compiled Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), subsequently bound as one volume. Part I (foliated 1-153) contains 'The Gododin an Heroic poem of the sixth Century transcribed from a Copy of Thomas Wiliams of Trefriw M.D., and the Works of Taliessin from Dr Davies of Mallwyd's hand, and other particulars wrote by the Revd Mr. Evan Evans' (f. 1) and includes transcripts of Llyfr Aneirin (ff. 5 verso-36), Llyfr Taliesin (ff. 37-126) and other manuscripts.
Part II (foliated 1-73) contains further poetry, by poets including Llywarch Hen, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ab Edmwnd and Gutun Owain (ff. 1-28, 34 verso-47); notes on Welsh orthography (following the cywydd beginning at f. 19); a list of poets from a manuscript of Dr John Davies (f. 39 verso); a copy of Sir Thomas Wiliems's Preface to his Latin-Welsh Dictionary (ff. 48-64); a letter, dated 26 January 1757, from Lewis Morris to 'Mr. Vaughan of Corsygedol' (ff. 65-69); a letter, dated 14 June 1755, from Richard Morris to the same Mr Vaughan, enclosing a copy of the Transactions of the Society of Cymmrodorion and referring to Lewis Morris and to Goronwy Owen (ff. 70-71); and a table of contents for Part I only, [?in the hand of Owain Myfyr] (f. 72).

Poetry, &c.

A manuscript containing poetry, etc., copied 'in the year 1757 by me Evan Evans then of Merton College [Oxford]' (f. 133 verso), mostly from the Red Book of Hergest; and from Jesus College MS 3 (ff. 114-132)
It appears that these transcripts, rather than the original manuscripts, were consulted for publication in the Myvyrian Archaiology.

An incomplete copy of an inspeximus of letters patent of Queen Elizabeth touching the twenty-four cursitors of the court of Chancery (ff. 1-24); and notes on the constitution of the borough of Caernarvon, with reference to riots there in 1712 (ff. 1-3).

A record of books lent, &c.

A composite volume containing (a) a record of manuscripts and books lent by John Jones (dean of Bangor), 1683-1724 (ff. [1]-[25]), together with (b) 'Rules for ye study of Theology by Dr [Thomas] Barlow of Oxford', [c. 1650] (pp. 1-54) and, in the same hand, lists of books compiled for 'a Friend who desired ye Names of some Bookes, wich might bee fit to furnish a library for young (yet Academicall studies)', [c. 1650] (pp. 57-92).

A copy of articles of agreement concluded at Berain, 5 January 1581/2, between Thomas Salesbury of Lleweny and John Wynn of Gwedyr, esquires, and Symon Thelwall, esquire, and Edward Thelwall, his son and heir apparent, touching a double marriage arranged between Edward Thelwall and Katherine Wynne, widow, and between Symon Thelwall, junior, and Jane Wynne, daughter of Maurice Wynne, deceased.

Legal precedents

Two books of legal precedents, one containing examples from England, mainly London, and the other containing copies of documents relating to actions in the counties of Anglesey, Caernarvonshire, Merioneth, and Shropshire.

North Wales rentals

A composite volume containing rentals and miscellaneous papers relating to crown rents in North Wales, comprising: a list of tenants and tenements and their chief rents in Llanfrothen, lands in Isgwyrfai, and rents in various charges, 1638 (pp. 1-42); a terrier of the King's land in Penmaen and Llysfaen viewed and written by William Lloyde of Nanlley, 1605, and the names of the jury that found the lands in Llysfaen, 4 January 17 Eliz. I (pp. 1-66); crown rents in North Wales and Chester, 1660 (pp. 1-40); the rent roll of lands assured by Owen ap Robert Owen to John Bodvell in Caernarvonshire and Anglesey, 1613 (pp. 1-4); miscellaneous memoranda relating to the rentals (pp. 1-16); and extracts from North Wales Ministers' Accounts, temp. A transcript, [?1699] (p. 1), of the extent of Anglesey made before John de Delves, locumtenens of Richard Earl of Arundel, justiciar of North Wales, 26 Edward III (1352) (pp. 1-88); a list of freeholders of Anglesey, 1606 (pp. 1-30); an account of the gentry of Anglesey, arranged by commotes, and a list of sheriffs to 1676, both in the hand of William Williams, Beaumaris, but with earlier pedigrees incorporated (pp. 1-94); 'a note taken of the demeanes nowe heald and belonginge to the Heanllis' (pp. 95-96); and a note of a survey of the lands of Arthur Bagnall in Tyndaethwy and Menai (pp. 99-102).

'The Charter of Bewmares in English with the Oathes of the severall Officers of the Same Borough, Anno Domini, 1667', a translation, with an index, of the 1562 charter; with draft orders against foreign traders.

Notes on British history

Rough notes by Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt, on early British history; a list of Cumbrian Kings; British and Saxon chronology; the rivers of Britain; a list of Gwentian kings; notes on Welsh saints and kings; genealogies; a writ issued by Robert Vaughan, 7 May 1658, for the binding over of Richard Griffith ap Rees and Owen Morris of Llanddwywe, yeomen, to keep the peace towards Margret Evan of Llanddwywe. Many of the notes are written on mutilated letters addressed to Robert Vaughan. On the original covers, bound in at the end of the volume, is the incomplete text of a grant of an annuity issuing out of Y Towr Maen in Trawsvynyth from Richard Nanney of Llanylltyd to Cadwaladr ap Humfrey (ff. 95-96).
