Intends to press tenants for rents and bring the estates to the same custom as in Northampton and Middlesex and not have a whole volume of arrears returned as has always been the custom with Mr. Hughes and Parry's father. Defendants say that the sense of the Welsh word Treth warrogeth signifies 'the necke yoke mise', which implies a servile tenure which they conceive themselves not liable unto, as they hold their lands in free socage tenure, paying only small chief rents to the lord. They refer to the old status of a lordship marcher, which is now dissolved. Copies.
