Seventeen letters, 1788-1791, 1803-1812, from the Rev. Thomas Burgess, bishop of St David's and later of Salisbury, to the Classical scholar, the Rev. Charles Burney, mainly concerned with the publication of Greek and Latin texts (ff. 1-29); together with six letters, 1816-1818, from Burgess to the Rev. Liscombe Clarke, later Archdeacon of Salisbury, relating to the compilation of diocesan returns for the see of St David's (ff. 30-41).
Two further letters, 1826, to an unnamed correspondent, concern versions of the New Testament and academic matters (ff. 42-45). There are references to a number of writers and Classical scholars including Daniel Albert Wyttenbach (ff. 1 recto-verso, 2 verso) and Thomas Twining (ff. 4-5, 9), and to the funeral of Thomas Warton (f. 6). Journal, July-October 1788, of Thomas Ellis Owen, then a student at Christ Church, Oxford, later rector of Llandyfrydog, Anglesey, describing a tour of Germany, from London to Weimar.
The journal includes descriptions of Hamburg (ff. 2-3), Hanover (ff. 4 verso-6), Wolfenbüttel (8 recto-verso), the silver mines at Goslar (ff. 9 verso-11 verso), Göttingen (ff. 13-14), Münden (ff. 14-15), Cassel (ff. 15-19), and Weimar and its environs (ff. 21-28). The volume includes an anecdote relating to Frederick II, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel (ff. 18-19), and an account of a conversation with Goethe. (ff. 27 verso-28 verso).

A copy, made about 1788 by Cadwalader Pugh, of the poetical works of Rhys Jones o'r Blaenau. Though it does not appear to have been made from the author's holograph collection (Mostyn MS. 163), it contains most of the items included therein.The latter portion of the book was used between 1836 and 1849 as a commonplace book and contains material taken from newspapers, including The Christian Advocate, The Weekly Dispatch, The Shropshire Conservative, The Sunday Times, and particularly The Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald. The longer poems include 'Ffarwel Caerludd' by R. D., 'Cerdd y Myglys' (anonymous), 'Hiraeth am Feirion' by Owen Thomas ('Twrog'), 'Carol Plygain' by O. Williams, 'Pennillion Serch' by John Jones ('Talhaiarn'), 'Can y Crys' by Edward Roberts ('Iorwerth Glan Aled'), and 'Meirion i mi' by William Roberts ('Gwilym Aran').

Antiquarian notes on St Asaph clergy
A volume compiled, [c. 1790], by the Rev. Thomas Edwards of Mount Sion, Selattyn, Shropshire, rector of Llanfechain, Montgomeryshire, containing lists of incumbents for each parish in the Diocese of St Asaph, arranged mostly alphabetically by parish (pp. 1-4, 7-260), together with lists of the bishops, deans, archdeacons, prebendaries and chancellors of the diocese (pp. 261-289). The volume contains later additions by Edwards and, to about 1853, in the hand of the Rev. Richard Bonnor Maurice Bonnor.
The lists are written on rectos, often with notes inserted on the versos opposite. The volume also includes an index of parishes (pp. 540-543), notes on 'Antient Usages & Customs in North Wales' (pp. 293-295) and ecclesiastical wakes (pp. 299-302) and a poem (p. 297).

Journal of a tour through Wales
A journal of a tour of parts of England and North and West Wales, July-August 1791, containing descriptions of towns, castles, inns and scenery and of incidents along the way.
The unnamed author, possibly a member of the Wilson family of Broomhead, Sheffield (based on contextual materials filed seperately), travelled with two companions, starting from Cambridge on 11 July 1791. The English itinerary included Oxford, Birmingham, Coalbrookdale and Shrewsbury (ff. 1-8, rectos only). In Wales they visited Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Llangollen, Bala, Conwy, Bangor, Caernarfon, Beddgelert, Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Aberystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Cardigan and Carmarthen (ff. 9-25, rectos only, 24 verso). The journal includes an eyewitness account of the Priestley Riots in Birmingham on 14 July (ff. 6-7), and of an altercation between [?Richard Tavistock] Price and three apothecaries in Bala, 21 July (f. 12). A recurring theme is their difficulty in hiring appropriate transport from various landlords (ff. 19, 20, 25). The volume includes three pencil sketches of scenery (ff. 26 verso, 27 verso, 28 verso) and rough accounts (f. 29 verso, inside back cover, front and back covers). The bill, [16] July 1791, for their stay at the Tontine Inn, opposite the Iron Bridge, Coalbrookdale, has been tipped in on f. 26.

A list, [September] 1795, by the artist John Malchair of Oxford, of drawings made by him on a tour of north Wales, 22 July-21 August 1785, written on returning to Oxford.
The drawings are described in chronological order, with some additional details and comments on the surroundings, people and weather. The itinerary includes Stinchcombe, Gloucestershire (f. 1), Dinas Mawddwy (f. 2 recto-verso), Barmouth (f. 3) and Harlech (f. 3 recto-verso), Merionethshire, and Beddgelert, Caernarvonshire (f. 3 verso). Minute-book, 1796-1909, of the trustees of the charity created by the will of Ellen Glynne of Elernion, parish of Llanaelhaearn, co. Caernarfon, spinster, respecting the almshouse at Llandwrog and property in the parishes of Llandwrog and Llanllyfni, co. Caernarfon, and in the parish of Llangoed, co. Anglesey. The minutes include details of admittances to the almshouse and details of tenants, rents and repair of trust property. Also included in the volume are copies of the will, 1727, with codicils, 1728 and 1732/3, of Ellen Glynne, proved at London, 1733 (tipped in between ff. i and ii; ff. 1-6v).

Diary, etc., of John Davies, Ystrad
A diary and commonplace book of John Davies (David) ('Siôn Dafydd y Crydd'), bookbinder and cobbler, of Llanfihangel Ystrad, co. Cardigan. The diary covers the period from 1 January 1796 to 19 December 1799 (new style) and refers mainly to 'booking ', e.g., the binding of local Church Bibles, the making of a letter case for William Lewes, Llysnewydd, the purchase of pasteboard and glue, etc. Other entries consist of copious observations on the weather and on the health of the writer and of members of his family; records of other activities of the scribe and of his wife, such as the making up of club accounts and attendance at club feasts, the making up of churchwardens' and vestry accounts, the writing of documents (leases, wills, marriage settlements, letters, bidding letters, and club articles), estreating, attendance at religious services, the death and burial of local residents, visits to fairs, gardening, the raising of turf, the making of candles, watch repairing, the spinning of flax and hemp, grinding at the mill, etc.); and references to unusual or interesting contemporary incidents, e.g., the beginning of Bedlwyn bridge, 9 August 1796, 'great noise about the French landing in Pembrokshire', 1 March 1797, 'great alarm about mad dogs ', 17 March 1797, the eclipse of the sun, 24 June 1797, '2000 Irish emigrants in Pembrokshire', 15 June 1798, 'Terrible Rebellion in Ireland', 18 June 1798, '. . . the Buck wheat plowed with a new plow English fashion with foure Horses', 31 August 1798, etc. In the left hand margin of each page are two columns indicating each date in both the new and the old styles. The remainder of the volume contains miscellaneous poetry, including stanzas and 'englynion' by D. A volume compiled, 1798-[1808], by Henry J. Hughes, Llanbeblig, containing precedents of declarations, pleas, and other legal documents, together with cases and opinions and notes on replevin.
The precedents relate mainly to cases in Anglesey, Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire, [18 cent., second ¼]-[late 18 cent.]. The contents are listed on pp. iv-ix. An agreement to build a drain, 1829, is loose at the end of the volume (pp. 323-324).

Memoirs of Thomas Jones, Pencerrig
Memoirs and journal, compiled 1798, of the artist Thomas Jones, Pencerrig, recounting in detail his life in London, France and especially Italy during the second half of the eighteenth century.
The volume briefly recounts Jones's ancestry and early years, becoming more detailed from the 1760s, with the last detailed entry being for December 1783 (f. 218 verso); the bulk of these later entries are extracts from Jones's own journals. The final entry was signed by the artist at Pencerrig, November 1798 (f. 220 verso). The main text, including some later deletions, is written on the versos only; notes and emendations, [1798x1803], have been added by Jones on the rectos and the volume has been signed and dated 1803 by him inside the front cover. Family memoranda, in a different hand, have been added after Jones's death (ff. 225 verso). Diary of David Jones, Llan-gan
The Christian Lady's Pocket Book for 1798 belonging to the Rev. David Jones of Llan-gan, Glamorgan, and Manorowen, Pembrokeshire, the prominent Methodist preacher, containing brief diary entries noting day-to-day activities, preaching engagements and tours (pp. 14-118, versos only) with additional material occasionally added on facing pages.
Two short prayers in Welsh are on pp. 111, 113. Additional memoranda, in pencil and ink, 1817-1831, appear to be in the hand of his grandson, the Rev. Lewellin Lewellin (pp. i, iii, vi, 146 and inside the covers). The volume also incorporates printed poetry, prose, tables and other information (pp. 1-12, 121-144). A few extracts from the diary, translated into Welsh, were published in 'Lloffion ar ol yr Hybarch David Jones, Llangan', Y Drysorfa, 70 (1900), 129-131 (pp. 129-130).
