A volume labelled 'Llyfr Cerddi William Morgan', being a collection largely of poetry compiled during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century by William Morgan (died 1728), Plassegwynio[n], Llanymawddwy, Merioneth. There are also copious additions on the blank pages and in the margins of the volume, including poetry by Cadwaladr ap Dewi and Dafudd Gryffydd ('ai Dychreuodd, John Llwyd ai diweddodd'); transcripts, 1721 and undated, of depositions and an incomplete lease touching properties in the township of Lowarch and in Lanerchvyda, Merioneth; undated accounts, e.g. 'Potatws a Count'; etc. There is an entry in the hand of 'Mair' [Richards, Darowen], 1853.

A mutilated volume written in various late seventeenth and early eighteenth century hands containing 'carolau', a 'cywydd' and 'englynion' by Cadwalader Roberts (1685), Hugh Lewis, Hugh Moris, Rowland Vaughan, Moris Richard, Thomas Lloyd ('Ieanga'), Edward Rowland, Richard Abr[a]ham and Edward Moris, and anonymous poems, together with a copy of an acknowledgment, 1677, of a debt of £3 from Thomas Roberts of Penant [Melangell], Montgomeryshire, gent., to John Hughes of Peniarth, gent. On the fly-leaves at the beginning is an index of first lines of the 'carolau' and 'cywydd' compiled and written by J. H. Davies, and at the end a transcript by J. H. Davies of 'Englynion o fawl i Thomas Jones' by Cadwalad[r] Roberts. The volume is lettered 'Llyfr Cadwaladr Roberts 1676'.

A composite volume lettered on the spine 'Llenorion Lleyn ac Eifionydd' and described in the old typewritten handlist of Cwrtmawr Manuscripts as 'Llyfr Cywyddau etc. R. Llys Padrig. etc. fol.' The first part is in an early nineteenth century hand or hands (watermarks 1803 and 1804) and contains a list of sheriffs for Caernarvonshire to 1796; a list of arms; and 'cywyddau', etc. by Rhisiart Cynwal, Gruffydd Phylip, Sion Dafydd Las o Nanau, Owen Gruffydd, Lewis Menai, Ieuan Tew, Sion Tudur, Sion Phylip, Edmwnd Prys, Ieuan Llwyd, Gruffydd Hafren and Watcin Clywedog. A volume in the hand of Owen Williams ('Owain Gwyrfai'; 1790-1874), Waun-fawr, Caernarvonshire, containing a list of contents of a pedigree manuscript of Owen Gruffydd, Llanystumdwy, and poetry by Lewis Morganwg from a manuscript in the writer's possession, both compiled in 1843 with a view to publication in Yr Haul; and transcripts, made during the period 1871-2, of poetry by Cadwaladr Cesail (transcribed at the request of John Jones, Bryn y Gro, Llanystumdwy), and Morys Dwyfech. In the case of the latter poet, some transcripts are in another hand and there are copious corrections by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The volume is labelled on the upper cover 'Owain Gwyrfai MS'.

The volume is in the same hand as NLW MS 566, [See The National Library of Wales Journal, Vol IX, pp. 495-6], which formed No. 2 in the Llansilin Collection. The later sequence of pagination was carried out by Mary Richards, Darowen. Amongst the later marginalia is a copy of an undated (1 May [ ]) notice to let Ty'n Bedw, parish of Llangadfan, Montgomeryshire. The spine is lettered 'Kywyddau, Achau, Compot Manuel'.

A manuscript entitled 'Immanuel neu Ddirgelwch Cnawdoliaeth mab Duw' in the hand of the Reverend Samuel Williams. The text is a Welsh translation of Archbishop James Ussher's Immanuel: or, The mystery of the incarnation of the Son of God (1638). Samuel Williams ends his text with a citation from the work of the poet Sion Phylip.

An imperfect and badly mutilated volume containing sermons, some of which are transcribed from Edward James: Pregethau a osodwyd allan trwy awdurdod i'w darllein vmhob Eglwys blwyf ... (Llundain, 1606); proverbial sayings, triads and short tabular texts, many probably extracted from Robert Lloyd: Llwybr hyffordd yn cyfarwyddo yr anghyfarwydd i'r Nefoedd (Llundain, 1630) e.g. 'Wyth o arwyddion ansomedig o Iechydwrieth', '... arwyddion o ddamnadigaeth [sic] .... naw arwydd ... o golledigaeth dyn', 'Achosion seguryd ...', 'Naw o fariav i gav allan or nefoedd a naw porth i fyned i vffern', 'Naw ystyrieth buddiol', 'Geiriau gwir Taliesn [sic]', 'Attebion y seithwyr doethion yw gilydd ... ', '12 pwnc cas gyn dduw ar neb ai gwnelo', 'Pedwar peth a ddyle pob dyn i myfyrio ...', 'Naw arwydd o enaid holliach', 'Wyth arwydd St Peter o Iechvdwrieth', 'Saith o arwyddion difregusaf ag ansomedigaf [sic]', 'chwe pheth sydd gas gyn yr Arglwydd... ', etc.; 'cywyddau' by [William Midleton], Doctor John Cent and William Llyn; 'cerddi' by [Rhys Prichard] 'Viccar Llanymddyfri', Rowlant Vaughan and William Philip, and anonymous and imperfect 'cerddi'; and 'Emyn Ambros ag Awstin yr hwn a elwyr te Deum ag a g[yfiei]thiwyd yn gymraeg gan Ddafydd Ddv o Hiraddig ... '.

A composite volume mostly in the hand of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing a copy of Sir John Wynn's History of the Gwydir Family, taken from a transcript made by Thomas Mostyn of Gloddaith (ff. 1-74); extracts from papers of Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt (ff. 75-86); lists of manuscripts at Gwydir and Llannerch (ff. 89 verso-94, 185) (for the Llannerch manuscripts see Cambrian Register, Vol. i, p. 320, etc.); poetry by Siôn Cent, Tudur Aled, Siôn and Gruffydd Phylip and others (ff. 95-153, 190-203); a pedigree of the Panton family (ff. 186-189); copies of letters from Edward Lhuyd to Robert Davies, Llannerch (ff. 204-219), and of a letter from Thomas Price, Llanfyllin to Robert Davies, Llannerch (ff. 220 verso-225); extracts; etc.

An imperfect copy of David Powel, The historie of Cambria, now called Wales ... (London, 1584), containing many notes and comments on the text, including collation with other chronicles (Roger de Hoveden, Stow, Matthew Paris, Giraldus Cambrensis and Brut y Tywysogion, e.g. p. 333). Most of the notes are probably in the hand of George Owen Harry (c. 1553-c. 1614), rector of Whitechurch and Llanfihangel Penbedw, co. Pembroke (see signature on pp. 1 and 15 (first sequence) and notes on pp. xvi, 115, 193); included are a brief pedigree of Llywelyn ab Iorwerth (p. 63) and coats of arms, mostly in trick (pp. 28, 103, 115, 131-7, 193, 246, 392). An englyn on the death in 1569 of William Herbert, 1st earl of Pembroke, is written, probably by the same scribe, on p. viii. According to a note on p. 402, the scribe read the volume in 1584 and 1592. Several leaves are missing and the deficiency in the printed text is supplied on inserted leaves in a mid or late XVIII cent. hand.

An early eighteenth century miscellany, with later additions, containing recipes in English; a herbal in Welsh, with 'englynion' in praise of herbs by William Cynwall, Huw llun, Rhys Iorwerth fynglwyd, Gryffith ap Efan, Dr. Richard Dafis ('Esgob Dewi'), Sion ap Sion, Sion Tudur, Howel borthor ('o'r Trallwng yn mhowys'), Thomas Efans (1619), etc; 'Brenin yn yr hên amser a ddyfeisiodd i ddeuddeg oi wyr ddoydyd 12 gair gwir dan eu perigl'; 'gofyn a wnaeth y saith wyr doethion iw gilidd. Pa ryw ddaioni ore ar ddyn ...'; 'y pethau a berthyn ar wr'; Welsh proverbs; 'Dysg i adnabod y lleuad newydd', 'I gael y Pasc tros byth', 'I gael difieu cablyd', 'I gael y Pasc byth', 'I gael newid y lleuad', and 'I wybod oed y lleuad', 'Tair Sir ar ddeg o gymru au Trefydd au dinasoedd au Cymydau, au heglwysydd' ('Diwedd Ebrill 10. 1722'); 'Trioedd mab y Crinwas'; 'Triodd [sic] yr usuriwr'; the story of 'Adar Llwch Gwin'; 'y Pedair Camp ar hugain', etc. The leather cover is blind tooled 'Ex Dono Edvardi Humphrey Anno Domni 1661', but there is no evidence to show whether or not this inscription refers to the present volume.

An imperfect manuscript: of the original manuscript (see note on number of folios) thirty-two folios at the beginning (as per a previous foliation ) ? containing poems numbered 1-28 and part of poem 29, numerous mid- volume folios, and an indeterminate number of folios at the end appear to have been lost. pp. 1-178 (excepting p. 176 and later insertions) are in the hand of the Glamorgan poet and copyist Llywelyn Siôn, the scribe of NLW MSS 970E, 6511B, and 13075-13076B (see TLLM, tt. 157-60). The greater part of the remainder of the volume appears to be in a later seventeenth century hand or hands. The contents consist of transcripts of Welsh poems in free and strict metres, the free-metre verse being largely in the form of 'cwndidau' (see TLLM, tt. 120-43). Included is a corpus of poems by the sixteenth century Glamorgan poets Thomas ap Ieuan ap Rys (25) and Hopgin Thom[as] Phylip (22). Other poets whose works are transcribed include Thomas ap Ieuan ap Madog, Siôn Davydd, Thomas Lle'n Daio Powel, Ll'n Daio Pwel , [ ] Davys, Ll[ywely]n Siôn, Siôn Siankin 'o Benllin', Harri Bach Brydydd, Siôn Howel Siôn, Syrr Siôn Iwng, Matho Wiliam, Siôn Thomas, Howel Siankin, Wiliam Davydd, Siankin Morgan, Ieuan ap Rys 'o Verthyr Kynon', Sir Hyw Davydd 'o gelli gaer', Siankin Thomas, Gronw Wiliam, Siankin Siôn Howel, Thomas Siankin ap Ieuan, Wiliam Prys, Davydd ap Risiart, [ ] Kae Llwyd, Dafydd Nawmor, Ieuan Daelwyn, Richard Davydd, Ieuan Tew Brydidd Ievank, Hugh Dwnn, Tho. There is one English poem attributed to Sir Risiart y Vwalchen. The poems by Hopkin Thomas Philip have been published in Lemuel James: Hopkiniaid Morganwg . . . (Bangor, l909), and a large proportion of the remaining poems in L. J. Hopkin James and T. C. Evans: Hen Gwndidau, Carolau, a Chywyddau . . . (Bangor, 1910).

Davies containing a transcript of 'Hanes Arthur brenin y Brython' from Peniarth MS 215, with an incomplete transcript from NLW MS 1 and a covering letter in the hand of Egerton Phillimore, Corris, 1923 (see J. H. The collection also contains poetry in strict and free metres by Sion Tomas Owen ('y Gwehydd o Fodedern'), Michael Prichard ('mab chochydd [sic] Llanllyfni'), Sion Rhydderch, Rhist. Roberts ('clochydd Llanddeusant'), Huw Huws ('o Lwydiarth Esgob ym Mon'), and W. Wynn; 'Rhybudd i Wenno [Translation of Darby & Joan]' by Roger Edwards ('offeiriad Llanaber ym Meirionydd'); a calendar of the Lewis Morris MS designated NLW MS 604; and 'Young Mends the Clothier's Sermon', a satire by Lewis Morris on Methodist preachers, from NLW MS 67, pp. 51-70. A transcript of a collection of poetical meditations, prayers, psalms, and 'cywyddau', composed by Humphrey David ab Evan, sexton of Llanbryn-Mair, about 1637 to 1644; with a few 'cywyddau' by Siôn Phylip, William Phylip, and Doctor Siôn Kent, and 'englynion' by William Cynwal and Hugh Machno. The statement in David Williams: Cofiant Cynddelw, p. 684, that the greater part of the volume is in the author's own hand is incorrect.

A volume in the hand of D. Silvan Evans containing 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Wiliam Lleyn. The transcripts were made c. 1869 and appear to be taken from more than one source, e.g. a manuscript of Paul Panton, 1779, and a manuscript of W. H. Mounsey based on a manuscript in the hand of [Owen Jones] 'Owen Myfyr'. At the end are 'Tri o'r Chwe Englyn a ddywedir i Ddafydd ab Gwilym wneuthur ar ei Glaf-wely' transcribed by D. Silvan Evans from a manuscript in the hand of ?D[avid] Ellis [Cricieth]. Beginning at the end are three pages of notes on 'Matter'.

A volume of transcripts by J. R. Jones (according to the entry in Cwrtmawr MS 1488B; see also Cwrtmawr MS 1000C), with some collations and annotations, of 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Wiliam Llyn. A few additional transcripts at the end, as well as some of the collations, etc., are in the hand of J. H. Davies. There is a typescript index of first lines of the poems, again with manuscript additions by J. H. Davies. Inset are another list of first lines in the hand of J. H. Davies; an offprint, from Y Traethodydd, 1897, pp. 139-50, of 'William Lleyn' by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'); and a printed prospectus of a proposed collection by 'Myrddin Fardd' of 'The Works of the Bards of Llyn and Eifionydd'.
