A manuscript containing 'Lexicon Cambro-Britannicum' by William Gambold, late of Exeter College, Oxford, later rector of Puncheston in Pembrokeshire. Part i of the manuscript contains an English-Welsh dictionary of '88 sheets, writ in 7 months' and completed 'Sep. 14. 1722'. The material was 'collected out of Dr. Davies's Latin-Welsh Dictionary, the Welsh translation of the holy Bible, several approved Welsh Authors, and common use'. There are three columns to each folio. Part ii contains a Welsh-English dictionary of '36 sheets', begun 'Nov. 27. 1721' and completed 'Feby. 17th 1721/2'. There are three columns to each folio.

The manuscript is in the same hand as Llanstephan MSS 122-125 and may be that of John Pryce, rector of Mellteyrn (see p. 103).

A manuscript containing works of Dafydd ap Gwilym 'yr Ofydd Cymreig. A gasclwyd allan o amryw Lyfrau gan Richd. Thomas A.B. e Coll. Jes. Oxon. 1778'. The collection contains eighty-one pieces.

A notebook of Edward Lhuyd, written 1698 (see pp. 10, 52), containing details of monumental inscriptions in Llanboidy (p. 6), Defynnog (p. 7), Llanfihangel (Mongomeryshire) (p. 17), Trawsfynydd (p. 31), Llangadog (p. 53), Herefordshire (pp. 58, 72), Llanllywenfel (p. 75), Llanafan Fawr (p. 77) and Llandanwg (p. 89); sketches of stone crosses (pp. 59-61, 73), stone circles (pp. 27, 44, 94, 99, 100) and further stones (pp. 2, 9, 42-3, 56), lime pit fossils (pp. 14, 44, 54, 62, 84-5, 145), a window (p. 3), Llangorse lake (p. 36), and the shore by Barry Island (pp. 37-8); and details of tombstones and their epitaphs (pp. 4, 11, 13, 39, 47, 63, 69, 81). The volume also includes notes relating to manuscripts and their owners (pp. 65-74), etc. An autograph note on p. 120 states: 'Mr. Edward Lhwyd was born at Lappiton parish, his nurse is now [?1698] living at Krew green (where he was nurs'd) 9 yre of her at Mrs. Judith Cowfield at Lappiton / his nurse says he is 41 years old 3 days before Michaelmas last according to Catherine Bowen his nurse to ye best of her memory'.

A manuscript written in several hands, one of which is that of John Dafydd, 1750, containing poetry by Edward Morris, Lewis Jones 'o'r Pandy', John Edwards ('Siôn Ceiriog'), Huw Morys and others.

'Gossodedigaetheu a Messureu y Deyrnas, Cantrevi a Chymydeu Kymry', being a list of hundreds, commotes and other geographical divisions within Wales. At the end of every division is a list of its castles.
The list of 'Cantreds and Commotes of Wales' (p. 5) agrees practically with the one in Peniarth MS 163.

A 'Copy of the Dedication of, and Preface to Sir Thomas Wiliems's Latin-British Dictionary', together with notes on the life and work of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, and ballads, which include the works of Rowland Fychan of Caer-gai, Lewis Morris and Richard Abraham, written c. 1738 (see p. 2). Also including englynion to Robert Vaughan, Caer-gai by Dr John Davies; a translation by Dr Davies of Thomas Wiliems's dedication of his Dictionary to Sir Richard Wynne, Gwydir; and notes concerning Thomas Wiliems's Dictionary at Hengwrt, with a copy of its Preface (see Peniarth MS 228).

A manuscript containing the private account book of George Hope of Dodleston, together with his account with the Earl of Bridgewater. The volume contains the inscription 'A note of my owne adge. I was christened in Hawarden the 25 of Aprill 1574. George Hope'.

A manuscript in the hand of Moses Williams containing 'Buchedd Collen' (pp. 25-31), 'Hanes Taliesin' (pp. 33-44), 'Keyryd' (p. 77), transcripts from the Black Book of Carmarthen (pp. 1-20, 98-118) and the Book of Taliesin (pp. 79-97), triads taken from 'Y Cwta Cyfarwydd' (p. 45 (see Peniarth MS 50, p. 149)) and from the work of John Jones, Gellilyfdy (p. 62) and other material, some of which relates to Welsh geographical features (pp. 32 (taken from the work of John Jones, Gellilyfdy), 75-76, 121). P. i contains an index of the contents.

A manuscript containing the rentals and estate memoranda of Maurice Wynn of Gwydir; together with the stock accounts of several farms.
Among the losses of one farm's stock in the year 1570 is a sheep 'killed by an eagle' (p. 77).

A manuscript containing Y Marchog Crwydrad, being a translation into Welsh of W[illiam] Goodyear's English version of Le Voyage du Chevalier Errant by Jean de Cartigny. Egerton Phillimore has inserted the following note: 'This MS. was written by Jeuan ab Jeuan ab Madoc in the parish of Bettws, near Bridgend, Glamorganshire, in about 1575, and differs materially from the other two known MSS. - in fact it is a distinct translation, and interesting as a specimen of Glamorgan dialect. This is far the most perfect MS. of the Welsh translations of this work. The first folio is gone but is preserved in a slightly later transcript ... the missing fol. 74 ... is said to be in Brit. Mus: MS. 100 Harl: D. XVII. 2414'. On the front of the volume is written 'No. 25 / No. 144 Hauod [although this manuscript is not mentioned by Iolo Morganwg as among the Hafod collection] / No. 8'.

A manuscript written c. 1573 (see f. 1) containing Kyvrinach y Beirdd (ff. 2-14a); and Humphrey Llwyd's English version of Brut y Tywysogion (ff. 1-227). The manuscript also includes poetry of Iolo Goch (f. 1); a rental of lordships in Powys (f. 228); and a Powys genealogy (f. 228b). Folios 229-232 are fragmentary and repaired.

A manuscript containing a book of briefs (in Norman French) (p. 126); Glanville's Treatise on the Laws and Customs of England (pp. 179-217); and a copy of Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britannorum (pp. 1-178).

A manuscript written in two hands containing Historia Brittonum, et Cronice de Gestis ac Nominibus Regum Anglie. Beginning at p. 132 is a brief continuation of the Chronicles down to Henry VI in a later hand.

A manuscript containing the Welsh Laws, being a transcript of British Museum MS Harleian Titus D. II. Three folios at the beginning and two at the end contain poetry in Welsh and Latin, etc. There are also some items of a corn account.
The general style of the handwriting, which is not all in the same hand, is suggestive of the manuscripts of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, which were copied partly by him and partly on his behalf.

A manuscript containing Brut y Tywysogion. Ff. 1-111, 114-121 are in the autograph of Richard ap John of Scorlegan, Llangynhafal.
The text is a copy of Mostyn MS 116 when that manuscript was complete.

A manuscript containing 'Ystoriaeu Owen ap Urien [pp. 13-56], y Llong Voel [pp. 57-64], Aristotle ac Alexander [pp. 65-75], a Saith Doethion Rhuvein [pp. 76-145]'; together with Breuddwyd Goronwy Ddu (pp. 146-153); 'Rhyveddodeu Ynys Brydein'(pp. 154-160); etc. The manuscript is in the hand of Ieuan ap Ieuan ap Madog: a note at the end of the volume states 'Ag velly y terfyna hyny o law drysgwl Jeuan ab Jayan ab madog yn y flwyddyn o ddât jessy grist . 1574' (see also Llanstephan MS 178). On pp. i-iv is a title page and table of contents in the hand of Lewis Morris.
