Miscellaneous papers

A volume containing a collection of letters and notes pertaining to Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin). Amongst them are letters from John Evans of Erbistock with a list of subscribers to one of Edward Jones's books (p. 47), from David Thomas (Dafydd Ddu Eryri), dated 29 March 1800 (p. 51), and from A. Ryder of Dartmouth (p. 57). Also included in the volume are an account of Canu dan bared in Meirionethshire, with a fragment of the song used (pp. 74-5); a collection of englynion (pp. 85-6, 94); pennillion (p. 103); the epitaph of Robert o Ragad (p. 107); notes relating to King Arthur's knights; and an index of the pieces in Queen Elizabeth's virginal book (p. 121).

A rent roll of assize rents, dated 22 October 1649, relating to the commote of Tindaethwy, Anglesey. Names of landowners, villes and gwelïau, and names of tenants and their holdings are given.

The Life of Gruffydd ap Cynan

A volume containing a translation of Buchedd Gruffydd ap Cynan. A note on the first page states that the Life of Gruffydd ap Cynan was "written originally in Welsh and copied A. D. 1683 from a MS. at Plas Ward, and now first translated into English". Also included in the volume are various loose papers in the hand of Edward Jones, Bardd y Brenin.

Influence of Welsh traditions on European literature

A volume containing an essay on the influence which the Welsh traditions have had on European literature, being the subject proposed for a prize by the Cymreigyddion Society in 1837 by Pren Tanllyd (pseudonym). This was the essay of one of the unsuccessful competitors at the Abergavenny Eisteddfod, 1838, and is lettered on the outside 'Welsh Literature MS. S.R.M.'.

A volume containing an interlude by Ellis Roberts (Elis y Cowper) copied, 1889, by William Roberts (Gwilym Cowlyd) "o lyfr Robin Delynwr". The characters are Tameinia, her daughter Teresia, their steward Argulus, who eventually marries Teresia, Crintach y Cybydd, Howel Feddal, Mr Cnafri, etc.
