The miscellaneous estates either had connections with Wynnstay or Gwydir but did not form part of the main estates, or they refer to non-Wynnstay lands. Records deriving from the administration of the Wynnstay, Vale of Clwyd and Flintshire estates, [?1541], 1573-1932; Merioneth and Caernarfonshire estates, 1675-1936; Llangedwyn and Llansilin (Denbighshire) estates, 1659-1905; Llwydiarth, Llangedwyn and other Montgomeryshire estates, [16]83-1929; Arwystli and Cyfeiliog estate, 1691-1913; and Oswestry and Llanforda estate, 1677-1911. There are also two groups which are not specific or which combine parts of several estates, namely miscellaneous estate and household records, 1639-1946, and industrial records, 1704-1908.

Family and personal papers of the families of Wynn of Gwydir and Williams Wynn of Wynnstay, those linked to them by marriage, e.g. Vaughan of Llwydiarth, Kyffin of Glascoed and Thelwall of Plas y Ward, and others with whom they had social or business associations. The papers comprise correspondence, 1571-1913; and papers relating to the personal careers of family members, and their private interests, which include a series of pedigrees, [pre-1580]-[post-1863].

Mortgages of the Wynnstay estates, 1681-1914; and financial and private papers of the Kyffin family, Sir William Williams and others, 1592-1701, 1903.

County administration papers,

Papers deriving from official administrative procedures, local government and justice at county level, in Montgomeryshire, 1605-1727, 1847; in Denbighshire, [1424], 1529-1851, 1906; and in Merioneth, Anglesey and Caernarfonshire, North Wales (misc.) and Shropshire, 1523-1797. They typically include appointments and duties of county officials, commissions of militia officers, election papers, taxation and subsidy records, town and borough records, and other papers routinely issued at the Quarter Sessions.

Administration papers of institiutions,

Papers deriving from the administration of various charities, schools and churches which were either founded, patronised or otherwise supported by the Williams Wynn family or other individuals with whom they had personal or business connections. The papers mainly concern institutions mainly in Denbighshire, Montgomeryshire and Shropshire, and they comprise deeds, regulations and accounts of charitable institutions and schools, 1599-1908; and church appointments, consistory court papers, faculties, etc., 1547-1773, 1861-1902.

Legal papers and arbtitration awards,

Legal papers and arbitration awards, 1449-1819. The majority of the legal papers comprise disputes over title to land or inheritance which took place in the High Court of Chancery, the Court of the Exchequer, the Court of King’s Bench, and the Council in the Marches of Wales, or which were treated as equity cases in the Court of Great Sessions. The three main groups comprise court cases of the Vaughan family of Llwydiarth, 1600-1716, and the Williams Wynn family, 1674-1793, and [19th cent]; and miscellaneous legal papers and pardons, 1458-1819. There is also a single series of arbitration awards, resulting from disputes mainly over boundaries or title, which did not take place in court, 1449-1710.

Records created by the official administration of the lordship of Ruthin, Denbighshire, 1364-[16]87, the lordship of Bromfield and Iâl, 1657, 1845; the manor of Cyfeiliog, Montgomeryshire, 1820-1842, and various lordships and manors in Wales and England, 1524-1849, held or administered by the families of Gwydir and Wynnstay..
