A volume of Crogen Iddon (Pontfadog, Denbighshire) provenance, written mainly during the second half of the seventeenth century. Bound in at the end are six pages of notes on the volume in the hand of John Ceiriog Hughes ('Ceiriog'), 1880, together with an undated holograph letter from 'Ceiriog', Van Railway, Caersws to Nicholas Bennett [at Glanrafon, Trefeglwys].

Some fifty letters, 1875-1889, to Elias Hughes, Colwyn Bay, co. Denbigh. Many are replies to invitations to preach at Engedi Calvinistic Methodist church, Colwyn Bay, or to preside at local eisteddfodau but also included are two letters (ff. 14, 19) concerning the injuries sustained by Elias Hughes during the tithe disturbance near Mochdre in 1887 (see Report of an inquiry as to disturbances connected with the levying of tithe rent-charge in Wales (1887), p. 102). The file comprises circular letters and appeals on behalf of various memorial and testimonial fund committees to commemorate Llywelyn ein Llyw Olaf, King Edward VII (Prince of Wales), Ceiriog, Mr Owen Owen, Pedrog, Hedd Wyn, Sir John Rhys, Eifionydd, and Lord Davies of Llandinam; and letters sent to the Cymmrodorion Secretary regarding a memorial to the late Joseph Edwards.

Among the subjects discussed, apart from 'Owain Alaw's musical interests and the dedication of his publications, are 'Gwallter Mechain's letters (by Jane Davies) and the proposed biography of Hugh Jones ('Erfyl) (by Morris Davies). Also included among the letters is a printed song - 'The Welcome Home, sung by the children of the Rhos-y-Medre and Rhosllanerchrugog National Schools on the occasion of the birth of an heiress to the noble House of Wynnstay', 1865.
