Window Tax Appeal: appellant states that at the time of passing the act (4 & 5 Wm. 4) he was assessed for 20 windows for his dwelling house in Monmouth, the remainder of the windows of the house being above as many again were stopped up with lath and plaster. After the passing of the act appellant opened up some of the windows and contends that under the 7th sec. of the act he was entitled to do so free of duty. This was objected to by the assessor.

William Williams, Newport, to Arthur Wyatt,

He suggests additional names which should be added to the committee for the hundred of Wentloog (includes the Homfrays and the Fotheringhills of the Tredegar iron works). Mr T. J. Phillips is endeavouring to get copies of the rate books. The committee for Lord Worcester meets almost daily and it will do everything within the borough that needs to be done.
