Deeds of exchange whereby Edward Vaughan acquired parcels of land in the great meadow called Y Werne Vawr and a parcel called Bacherneley in the township of Sgrwgan from Richard Morris of Llangedwyn and his son Thomas, 1682/3, followed by deed to lead uses of a recovery, 1688.

Title deeds for messuages called Y Ty Du, Y Ty yn y Llan and Ty Tan y Dderwen Fawr, purchased by Sir William Williams of Glascoed in 1693. They include a conveyance by Daniell Humphreys, son of Humphrey Morgan, of Llansanffraid to Thomas Bayly of London, grocer, with a lease back to D.H., 1665; deeds leading to a settlement on Daniell Humphreys’s widowed sister, Susan Bayly, 1667; reconveyance to Daniell Humphreys, in response to an order of the High Court of Chancery, of other lands mortgaged in 1626 by his father, 1668/9; and deeds of sale by Susan Bayly to Sir William Williams, 1692/3.

Title deeds comprising first a deed of sale by Thomas Griffithes of Glascoed to Anna Brereton of Cefnhir, of for a piece of land called Y Kae yn Ymil y Groeslwyd, which he had previously mortgaged to Richard Maurice of Cefnhir, 1637/8; a demise by Anna Brereton to her nephew Edward Maurice of Ffarme, Kinnerley, Salop, followed by devise of the same in a copy of her will, 1672; and a second will of 1678, referring to his intended fraud and revoking the previous bequest, proved 1687.

Title deeds, 1591-1617, comprising mainly mortgages and a lease for the mansion house called Y Glascoid and a piece of land called Kay Uchaf in the township of Castell belonging to Robert Lewis ap Madocke and his brother Richard, followed by the deed of sale of these and the lands of other individuals in Castell and Rug, to Sir John Wynn of Gwydir for £100 in 1597, with a condition for redemption of the mortgaged property of Ieuan ap William ap Thomas; together with counterparts and associated bonds; and a quitclaim to Sir John Wynn by Jonet the widow of Robert Lewis ap Madock, 1617.

Wynnstay mortgages, bond debts and family deeds

Documents mainly concerned with mortgages on the Wynnstay estates, 1845-1859, to fulfil the trusts in the will of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn (d. 1840) together with some earlier family deeds, 1770-1843.
