Royal pedigrees,

A vellum manuscript containing a chronicle and genealogy ('linea Genealagie') [sic] showing the descent of Welsh and English kings and princes from Adam to Brutus ('primum regem Britonum') and thence to Henry VI of England. The genealogy, written in black, red, and blue, comprises 'linea Saxonum', 'linea Saxonum Anglorum & Juthorum', 'linea principum Cambrie', 'linea monarchie britonum', 'linea regulorum Westsaxonum', 'linea regulorum Northumbrorum', 'linea regulorum australium Saxonum', 'linea regulorum orientalium Saxonum', 'linea regulorum Merciorum', 'linea regulorum orientalium Anglorum', 'linea regulorum Deirorum', 'linea regulorum Cancie', 'linea principum Wallie', 'linea principum Venedocie', 'linea principum Demecie', and 'linea ducum Normanie'. The manuscript was completed on 25 January 1453/4. The spine is lettered 'Genealogies of the Kings of England. MS. Temp Henrici VI'.

An album containing water-colour drawings, with descriptive notes, compiled by David Parkes, Shrewsbury, during the period 1808- 1831. The subjects include Llandderfel Church, Corwen Church, Plas Newydd [Llangollen], Llangollen Church, Pillar of Eliseg, Valle Crucis Abbey, Castell Dinas Brin, Nerquis Chapel, Nerquis House, and Llandrinio Church.

Journal of a tour,

A journal of a tour of Wales undertaken between 31 August and 24 September 1836. The itinerary included London, Meriden, Shrewsbury, Llangollen, Capel Curig, Bettws[-y-Coed], Conway, Bangor, Caernarvon, Llanberis, Beddgelert, Tan y Bwlch [Maentwrog], Ffestiniog, Harlech, Dolgelly, Machynlleth, Aberystwith, Devils bridge, Aberaeron, Lampeter, Llandovery, Newcastle Emlyn, Cardigan, Haverfordwest, Pembroke Carmarthen, Swansea, Neath, Pyle ('where I passed some of the happy days of my childhood') (including Greethill Cottage 'where my father died'), Margam, Pont Neath Vaughan, Merthyr Tydvil ('the town in which my eyes first opened to the light') (including the Talbut Inn 'where I was born'), Abergavenny, Ragland, Ross, and London. The text is illustrated with two coloured maps of North Wales and South Wales, three sepia drawings of Pyle Inn, Greethill Cottage, and Pyle Church, and forty-one engravings, and at the end are particulars of the mileage of each successive daily stage of the tour. The spine is lettered 'Tour in Wales. 1836'.

Copious manuscript annotations have been added by Nicholas Bennett. Also bound or pasted down in the volume are a note on provenance by E[van] D. J[ones], [19]07; a comment by Carl Engel on Antient British Music ...; an invoice from Bernard Quaritch, London, to N. Bennett, 1888, for Antient British Music ...; a portrait of John Parry; a list by Mary Davies, 1911, of 'Names of tunes written in a copy of Ancient British Music ... 1742 belonging to R. Morris now in British Museum in Addit. MSS. 14939'; critical observations by D. Emlyn Evans on individual songs in Antient British Music ...; and holograph letters from D. Emlyn Evans, Cemmes, Mont., to Mr. Lewis [L. W. Lewis, 'Llew Llwyfo'], [19]07, from Lady Llanover, Llanover, Abergavenny, to the Rev. J. Harmer, 1888, and from Joseph Joseph, F.S.A., Brecon, to [ ], 1888. The spine is lettered 'Vol. I. Antient British Music. J. Parry Rhuabon Blind. 1742'.

Six manuscript leaves extracted during rebinding from a copy in the Evan D. Jones Library of Henry Perry: Eglvryn Phraethineb . . . (Llundain, 1595). They contain an incomplete 'cywydd marwnad'('Och frwydyr awch fu rydost . . .') written circa 1662; verses by Llowarch hen; 'Henwav Arglwydd', 'Henwav brwydr', 'Henwav gwayw', 'Henwav arfav am wr', 'Henwav baner', and 'Henwav pob pethav teg'; 'englynion'; and medical recipes.

Manuscripts, [1453x1911], from the library of Sir Evan Davies Jones of Pentower, Fishguard. They comprise a fifteenth-century genealogical chronicle of Welsh and English rulers; an album of watercolour drawings of churches and other notable features of north and mid Wales compiled by the artist David Parkes; transcripts of monumental inscriptions in Tenby parish church; a journal of a tour of Wales, 1836; a volume of music, including works by John Parry ('Y Telynor Dall'); a volume of pedigrees transcribed by Edward Stanton Roberts; and seventeenth century Welsh poetry.

Pedigrees,

A transcript by Edward Stanton Roberts of N.L.W. MS. 1917E. The volume contains pedigrees originally compiled, and completed on 26 November 1830, by D. Jones Lewis, Gilfach, Llanwrda, co. Carmarthen. The scribe has added one page of notes, dated 22 October 1910, on uncertain readings and other textual features.
