The file comprises correspondence and papers, many printed, 1975-1990, deriving from the organisation, administration and activities of the Council for the Protection of Rural Wales. Some of the papers concern the celebration of its golden anniversary in 1978.

A report, in four volumes, on a research project entitled 'The rural economy and society of Wales between 1790-1815 with special reference to the manuscripts of Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'), undertaken by Dr David Ceri Jones, on behalf of Professor David W. Howell and Professor Prys Morgan, Directors of the Project, for the History and Law Committee, Board of Celtic Studies, University of Wales, 2000-2001.

The file includes miscellaneous printed and typescript materials, 1974-1989, relating to Welsh countryside issues. Some of the papers concern the activities of organisations such as the Countryside Commission, the Council for the Protection of Rural Wales, the Prince of Wales Committee Environmental Research Group, the Land Authority for Wales, and the Department of the Environment Welsh Office.
