Great Sessions Pleas, Legal Precedents, etc.

A manuscript in several hands containing draft memoranda of pleas in the Court of Great Sessions for Merionethshire, 1692-1728, and copious legal precedents in the form of transcripts of indentures, wills, bills of complaints, writs, warrants, etc., 1646-1731 and undated, almost all of Merionethshire provenance. The earliest dated document is a certificate, 1646, by Edmond Meyricke in the form of a letter to the Honourable Committees for North Wales at Denbigh Castle touching differences between the parishioners of Llanyckil and the inhabitants of the town of Bala about the division of taxes and mises.

Llanycil church and parish

A report submitted on 7 March 1729/30 to Francis Hare, bishop of St Asaph by J. Wynne, Garthmeilio [?rector of Corwen], on his visitation of Llanycil church and parish in 1729/30.

Wynne, J. (John), 1694 or 1695-1745.

Offerings & Surplice Fees ... at Llanykcil ...

A small notebook containing a record of 'Offerings & Surplice Fees commencing at Llanykcil March 27th. 1807' and covering the period up to 26 March 1813, followed by various memoranda (accounts), 1807-10. It appears that the notebook belonged to the Reverend Humphrey Lloyd, B.A., who was curate of Llanycil, Merioneth at the time of writing and vicar of Llanycil from 1819 until his death in 1843. A memorandum inside the front cover reads 'commenced upon the Curacy of Llanykcil March 27th 1807, being Good-Friday.' The notebook's value derives from the fact that it gives information which is often supplementary to that contained in the bishop's transcripts for the same period.
