Papers of the novelist and playwright James Hanley, [1954]-2011, including an annotated script of 'The Queen of Ireland' (only copy), recorded for BBC Third Programme, 1960, signed by him and including a letter from him, 1981, and 'Levine', adapted for television by Catherine Dolan; transcripts of three interviews with James Hanley (one conducted by his son Liam Hanley); a list of his publications; photocopies of book reviews and locations of his manuscripts in other libraries; letters received by Liam Hanley relating to his father's works in particular the controversial novel Boy (London, 1990) and a note by him on his 'Portrait of his father' painted in 1983. -- Additional papers include a programme of his first play Say nothing, 1962, and reviews; letters sent to his friend Philip Barclay and obituaries of James Hanley
