A note on p. 1 states: 'This MS. was interleaved in Leusden's Hebrew Bible, edit. 12mo., 1701, in 2 quarto volumes which I bought of Mr. Offor, Bookseller, Tower Hill, who told me he bought it at the sale of the late Dr. Williams of Islington, the author'. On the same page appears the signature 'J. Williams, January 24th, 1760. P. 2 vols'. See also p. 230.

A volume, second half 18 cent., in the hand of John Williams, LL.D. (1727-1798), a native of Lampeter, Cardiganshire, containing notes on the interpretation of various portions of the Hebrew text of the Old Testament. John Williams was a Nonconformist minister and died April 15 1798 in Canonbury Row, Islington. References to the Welsh version of the Old Testament appear on pp. 17, 124 and 148.
