Scope and content
Has received a letter from Newtown relating to the Llanidloes riot. The writer is of the highest respectability and strictest veracity, but he is pledged to withhold his name. As his Lordship's cavalry have been ordered to advance towards Llanidloes, he feels it his duty to quote the following extracts, - 'Depend upon it no man will be taken at Llanidloes without bloodshed. I know the disposition of these men; they will fight to the last drop of blood, and the women are worse than the men. Neither your Cavalry nor ours can do any good, unless aided by regulars. They have guns and pistols, ammunitÃon and pikes'.
