Scope and content
It is a long time since I received any communication from you. Following our tradition it is necessary that we keep our friendship fresh by writing to each other regularly. Previously you had written to me regarding the administration of the Bengal province and had asked me not to provide any help to Mir Qasim Ali Khan and that I should send Pandit Raghunath to you for negotiations. It is more than two years now that Pandit Raghunath came to see you and made an agreement regarding the payment of money. As English nobles are famous for keeping their words and promises and because of which they have enjoyed an increase in their trade, success in their conquests, and have been appointed members of the nobility of the great Mughal Empire and of the great Khilafat. It is therefore necessary that you have more and more close relations with other members of the nobility and officials of the great Khilafat. This includes sirdars from Deccan, particularly myself, who commands an army of more than thirty thousand men. As far as the payment [of my share] from the Bengal revenue is concerned Sukh Ram Naik will be presenting to you my case which will provide you with the necessary details.
