After taking my leave from you I came to Naraynpore and sent a message to Bije Singh, a Zamindar of Sarpanjah, to come to terms with us and vacate the fort of Sarpanjah. Although he had made full preparations to defend the fort he knew that I had the support of the English and so he vacated the fort on the 4th of Safar. We found that the whole parganah has been laid waste and that the people were in a wretched state. After establishing my administration there I came back to Ramnagar on the 9th of the above month. I have sent the overdue amounts to the company treasury on the 16th of the above month.
