The death of Tilok Chand’s grandmother occurred on Sunday 17 September 1758, according to an earlier letter, meaning that the Bangla month of 'As' may relate to the Hindu month of Asvina, thus the '17th of As' mentioned would equate to 10 October 10 1758. Alternatively, 'As' equates to Asadha, and the date mentioned is therefore 9 July of the following year 1759).
