Letters from Col. Bradstreet to Charles Gould. Subjects discussed include criticisms of his actions in the campaign against the Indians in 1764, Indian affairs in general, his strictures on the attitude of the colonies in refusing contributions of men and money for defence, references to the Stamp Act controversy, the proposal for the settlement of Detroit, proposals to raise and recruit a regiment in America, officered partly by members of the best colonial families, repeated requests to Gould to secure him preferment, comments on ministerial changes in England, matters relating to the drawing of his pay, for which Gould acted as his agent, a dispute about the payment of men whom Bradstreet had enlisted in New York in 1764, the payment of an allowance to Mrs Bradstreet, loans to Lieut. Mant, etc.
