The file comprises letters to George Griffith, 1813-1870. Subjects not previously described include George's recovery from cholera, 1846, financial responsibilities concerning the marriage settlement of Edward Edwards of Clywedog and London, 1822-1823, visits of foreign royalty to London, 1814, a family settlement, 1832, candidature of Townshend Mainwaring in the Denbigh borough elections [c. 1844], county elections, 1852, church endowments, 1837, financial matters and family trusts. Draft or copy letters by George Griffith on additional subjects concern entitlement to the rents of the Llwyn estate and family scandal of Robert and Lewis Nanney, 1816-1819; robbery of his personal possessions near Naples, 1820; succession to his father's post as recorder of Denbigh [1834]; disagreement with John Heaton over water rights at Hafod Mill, 1835; disputes over a pew in Llanrwst church, 1847, and shooting, 1862; and numerous letters to newspapers on matters of national and local concern, such as the Corn Laws, industrialisation, taxation on landowners, free trade and poaching.
