Heb deitl

This series of deeds relates to Nant yr Helfa in Llanycil, with the addition of a messuage called Tomlyn, which was part of the Cae'r berllan estate in Llanrwst. Nant yr Helfa was possessed in fee by Hugh ap John ap Robert and he created an entail on his estate upon his marriage with Jane vch Ellis Prys. After her husband died, around 1654, Jane vch Ellis Prys held the land until her own death in 1672. Her sons, William Hughes and Robert Hughes had died in about 1650 and 1669 respectively. Robert, the eldest, had no heirs, so Nant yr Helfa therefore descended to William's only daughter, Jane, wife of William John ap Richard, who had also inherited Cae'r berllan, but a claim to title was made by John Evans, alias Prichard, Robert Hughes's nephew. Several complicated lawsuits concerning the claim to title took place between between 1672 and 1695.
