Administrative history
The Mawddach Lodge was the last lodge to be established within the District. It was registered at the Council School, Barmouth, from its inception in 1892. The lodge was never one of the strongest within the Gwalia district with membership in 1918 being only 101 and declined steadily thereafter - 86 in 1921, 73 in 1930 and 38 in 1959. In 1960 the lodge decided to amalgamate with the Idris Lodge, Dolgellau, but this decision was not in fact implemented until 1972.
