The letter was part of a group of six from Beerbohm, and two from H. G. Wells, all addressed to Mrs Mathias, which were sold at auction at Sotheby's, London, 10 July 2003 (lot 173).

An autograph letter, [?1907], from Max Beerbohm to a Mrs Mathias (possibly Ena Mathias, née Wertheimer), relating to the proposed sale to her of his second caricature sketch of the New English Art Club (1907).
He refers to his substitution of the painter W. G. de Glehn for Charles Conder in the revised painting, because of the latter's illness (f. 188).
