Scope and content
Transcripts of joint meetings of the Craftsmen's Conciliation Board, and also of the Craftsmen's Joint Board, between representatives of the Coal Owners Association and representatives of the workmen to discuss problems. The workmen were represented by groups under several different names, including the Monmouthshire and South Wales Colliery Enginemen, Stokers and Craftsmen's Association; the Monmouthshire and South Wales Colliery Enginemen, Boilermen and Craftsmen's Association; or the Monmouthshire and South Wales Colliery Enginemen, Stokers and Craftsmen's Union (Enginemen's Wages Committee). The minutes record negotiations of wage agreements and their interpretation and application; discussions and decisions on individual cases in dispute, mainly involving wages and conditions of work; and also the refusal of some companies to allow their winding enginemen to sign an agreement.
