Plaid Cymru, the Welsh Liberal Democrats and the Green Party entered into a 'Remain Alliance' with Plaid Cymru and the Green Party standing down in Montgomeryshire and endorsing the Welsh Liberal Democrats as the best placed candidate in favour of the UK remaining a member of the European Union. Due to this arrangement, new Welsh nationalist party Gwlad Gwlad stood a candidate in this constituency.
